For the longest time I was confused as a kid and thought it was robotech.
When I was a little older though12-13.I watched several episodes always liked it.Kinda makes me want to watch it now.

Star blazers was the best cartoon series ever .....I used to run home from school to catch the last half of it every day when I was in junior high, some times I would stay home to watch the best ones ............the original movies were the best anime in japan at the time..............there's a new movie coming out in japan in december......."space battle ship yamato" in japan is what "star trek" is in the US........here is the web site for it in the US Star Blazers ,it has the entire history, news updates, dvd's,online store and web comics that continue the story...check it out

I was not able to participate because I never seen Star Blazers.

A good buddy from the Museum sent me some episodes so I know what I was missing.

I started watching with the attitude that I would probaby not make it past episode-1.

Well, I wrong .... right now i'm up to episode-12 and still going

Star Blazers is a great show !!!

I can't get the theme song out of my head

BTW, Matt Zimmerman of Thunderbirds ie Alan Tracy ...
Did he talk for Wildstar's buddy ? (I forgot his name)
The character's voice really sound like Alan Tracy
I'm soooooooo proud of you...I wanna give you a giant HUGE hug...

The Unedited Japanese Versions of the Episodes are amazing...I don't know if they were ever released in the US like Gatchaman (Battle of the Planets) eventually was.

If you like the Episodes, you should watch the 5 Movies for sure...Now those I know were translated for American Release.

    Enjoy...Great Stuff...Classic Anime.

I was addicted to this show around 1979-80 or so. I'd get up and watch every morning at 630 before school. I think it was on TBS at the time. I was really into the linear storyline and the animation where ships really blew up and people really died.

I don't know how I'd do watching today, thirty years or so later. I'll check Amazon for used copies and try again. I never saw the third season.

I loved the ship that had two wave motion guns, like a double barrelled shotgun. God those are good memories.

My sister and I used to fight over the time slot- I wanted Star Blazers and she wanted General Hospital. My mom told us to take turns, watcing one every other day. That really doesn't work for either serial shows. It did seem pretty Solomon-like, though.

If it was released in the US in 1979 or 1980, I was in highschool by then and already stopped watching cartoons ... unless they were Looney Tunes
