    Hmmmm....

I like 'em both; actually. Eccleston was a different Doctor from ALL the rest, but his Soccer-hooligan-ness was appropriate for where the Doctor was at the time. (Bitter, burned out and a bit on edge.) I would have liked to see more of him. Tennant is closer to the usual Doctor.... that is, what the current bunch of oldster fans consdier the usual one (IE: Tom Baker).... and he did a great job of it.

    >If anything I think Tennant is closer to Sly McCoy with a touch of Colin.

I can see the McCoy similarities; mostly 'cos I can see a lot of the new style story in the McCoy ones; held back by the standards of the time though.

Wonderful Chap..Both of them! They both came across very well for me.Eccelston's first word brought back memories of Troughton and i would have loved for him to play the role for 3 or 4 years. However Tennent has just overwhelmed me and brought such joy of life to the role that i would give him the slight edge. i just wish they would hire someone and they would stay for 5 years. that is the perfect amount of time for 1 incarnation anything less is wasting a regeneration!

I hated how many of the Classic Doctors had "uniforms"

That was mostly the work of JNT.

I loved how Jon Perwee STOLE his suit ...
He didn't go in the TARDIS wardrobe to pick something out ...
Pertwee's suit was stolen out of necessity -- he was bareass
As the show progressed (the Pertwee years) he changed clothes often ... Always the same style, but a little different.

Tom was ok too --- until JNT took over.

After JNT it was all about THE UNIFORM ...
The Doctor should NOT have a uniform.

and question marks are embarrassingly awful in any form.
No Doctor would wear question marks.

Would the Doctor actually think ........
Hmmmm, I never tell anyone my name -- and when they ask me my name I tell them "The Doctor" ..
I know behind my back they all say, Doctor who ?
So maybe i'll wear question marks --- this way people will think i'm even more mysterious - or a jackass
I have been watching the Tom Baker episodes and I forgot how often they did make changes to his costume, like Pertwee and Tennant it's always the same basic "kit" but the jacket/long coat, pants, and boots/shoes change. I also disliked the switch to the maroon "uniform". The variance in the clstume gives a reality to the show, he has his style but you don't wonder "if the companions can get clean clothes why doesn't the doctor"
even troughton and hartnell occsionally wore different color shirts or different pattern pants

and I agree the Doctor shouldn't have ?'s on his clothes

When Series One ran I liked the Eccleston Doctor and was disappointed to see him go.

But I think I ended up liking the Tennant version best of all, mostly for the amount of energy he supplies the Doctor with. He became my 2nd favorite Doctor, #5 being #1 with me obviously. Both had that sense of youthful vulnerability, of being disappointed that everyone didn't understand what they were trying to accomplish. That said, I could have done with a bit less of the stuff when the Doctor was preaching peace while blowing up SpiderWomen monsters. And the romance angle, which I guess was added to attract female viewers, but always seemed distracting to me.
