    Trick 'r Treat Review

I got up a non-spoiler review of Trick 'r Treat. The little movie that's been getting press for the past two years as "the most totally awesome horror movie of all time"... It doesn't quite live up to those expectations, but it is for fans of Tales from the Crypt and similar ilk. Check out my full review...

It's established during the opening credits that it is exactly for fans of Tales from the Crypt & EC horror. And a strong vein of black humor ran through most of those stories.

With this style of horror story, it is incredibly difficult to surprise or scare the audience which is why I was a little bugged that the DVD manufacturers spoil what was clearly meant to be a surprise about Sam on the inner DVD cover. It also felt like there was a missing scene about Rhonda (the "slow" girl) - maybe cut early from the script. Still, I enjoyed finally seeing the movie after hearing about it for long.

          They aren't too far apart.
          from Wikipedia about Creepshow
"The film is an homage to the E.C. horror comic books of the 1950s such as Tales from the Crypt, The Vault of Horror and The Haunt of Fear."

Yeah like I said in the review, it's a nice homage to Tales from the Crypt style stuff.

Agreed about Rhonda, I don't really get her inclusion. She just sort of jumps into the plot. I would have changed that storyline around and completely omitted the vampire subplot as it takes the story off focus.

As a side note, I have no idea why I posted this in Sci-Fi and not Horror. Blunder on my end.
