The Solarnauts! Unaired Pilot

Fooling around on Youtube I found this piece of wonderful, an aired pilot from 1967, you'd swear it was a gag but it's clearly quite real considering Martine Beswick is in it.

I absolutely love this, the clunky FX, the Gerry Anderson feel, the sexism, the production design that makes the whole thing feel like a half hour cereal commercial. I wish there were more episodes.

The Villain has a Dan Dare/Mekon look to him, kind of reminds me of another British alien villain that was in "the Dandy" growing up but can't recall his name.

Cool, reminds me a bit of Rocky Jones with a tad bit higher production values.

Apparently the creator of this show gave Gerry Anderson his start, so the feel is likely kind of a carry over.
