Started watching Lost in Space again

I hadn't watched an episode in a long time. I've been going to hulu to catch an ep in my spare time. I forgot how much fun they are. I just watched an episode from season three when they land on Earth in 1947. Robert Pine played a young adult town person in it. I thought that neat considering Chris Pine is now Kirk.

That was a cool episode because they showed the full size Jupiter-2 prop in many scenes.

Season-3 was a great improvement over season-2

I still have them on tape...Haven't bothered yet to get the seasons on Dvd....I do watch them off and on on Hulu......love revolt of the androids , Crush,Kill, Destroy....

Season 1 in BLACK AND WHITE was the best!!!!!!!!!

Lost in Space is one of the best sci-fi classics of all time. There is very little that truly touches the kid in me like this show does. The first season is just incredible science fiction and, I think, is truly devoid of any camp whatsoever. It's a tremendous and amazingly inventive creation for it's day. Season two clearly showed the signs of competition with Batman, hence the ultra colorful outfits and colored lighting on stage props. And yet, even through the change in treatment, the show retained much of it's charm and remained fun throughout. Development of the relationship between Smith and the Robot was absolutely brilliant and remains timeless. I personally knew Bob May who was the stuntman in the robot gear and he brought so much to the show and the robot that many will just never know or appreciate. It was his characterization of the robot that influenced writers to hone and develop that relationship between the robot and Smith. The voice you hear, Dick Tufeld, is indeed a classic voice and a talent without question. But he did not create that character or establish the attitude of the Robot. He was only mimmicking over what Bob May was saying. Bob May WAS the robot. May he rest in peace.

Wow. I never knew that Bob May was speaking the lines before the voice over. I just assumed he did the movement while an AD or someone read the lines from a script. That's amazing.

My kids even love that show! Their fave is The Anti-Matter Man. The show holds an even more special place for me than it used to, b/c now I know Bill Mumy (Will Robinson) and he's such a sweet guy! When he had his band The Jenerators, I would often travel to Santa Monica from Oakland, just to see them play. A few years ago on my birthday, they gave me roses.

Back to LIS, Bill holds that show very dear, and even today isn't the least bit cynical about talking about it to his fans. I have all the eps on tape, and love watching them.

By no means am I saying I don't like the show, because i LIKE IT VERY MUCH but every time I think of Lost In Space all I can picture in my mind is that guy dressed up as a giant carrot!

The Great Vegetable Rebellion is a poor episode, but it get's too much ribbing.

There are plenty of other episodes just as bad or worse --- see The Questing Beast, Cave of the Wizards, Space Vikings and Mutiny in Space to name a few.

My personal favorite episode is The Time Merchant followed closely by The Anti-Matter Man

Being a Mexican, I have a question for you.
Remember the Mexican bandito episode with the Ice Princess ?
I heard that episode was marked as non-politically correct back in the 70's because of the way it stereotypically depicts Mexicans.
I heard it was even removed from some syndication markets (in the 70's)

My questions are ...
Have you ever heard this ?
Do you agree with it's possible ban in some places ?

I don't really see anything wrong with it ...
As far as the way a Mexican is represented in that episode, it's pure comedy slap-stick no different then The Three Amigos.
And, to be 100% honest, I always thought the late 19 century Mexican bandito characters are super-cool... To me they're like a biker gang

I saw that episode in Mexico...

The only PC people are in the USA...Mexico is not so PC...they don't care about silly things like that...lol.

That was a great episode.

BTW...Lost in Space was HUGE in Mexico...over there it's known as Perdidos en el Espacio.

I'm a huge fan of Lost in Space. When I was a little kid they used to air the re-runs saturday morning. Everytime I watch them they bring back great memories
