Star Trek TWOK info I had never heard before

I was reading the "My Star Trek Scrapbook" blog and came upon a photo in an article that surprised me. An early script was supposed to have Khan having an infant son? Here is the picture, but I can't imagine how they thought that was going to work in the script. If true, I'm glad they dropped it from the story.
    It's all good!

it doesnt take a Trek fan to see the connection there with Kirk's son
in the context of that movie.

I wonder if Khan's son was taken out to soften Kirk and crew's attacks on Khan. Had a boy been on board the reliant with them, it would have made the Enterprise crew look kind of bad. Plus, Khan and son could hold Kirk responsible for the death of their wife AND mother.

I always felt that Khan's young lieutenant(Joachim)might be his son....remember how he swore to avenge him after his death.

There is a filmed scene floating around where Chekov looks into a window on the cargo bay and a kid looks back at him. This was cut from the film (but not the novel).I think it popped up in one of the early previews, or maybe even one of the tv commercials?

I figure the kid element was dropped because either the kids were unmanageable on set, or more likely, they decided to avoid the Marla McGivers character.

I agree on Joachim. He was either a son, or someone Khan was close to. A protege if you will.
In the tv episode, there was a Joachim mentioned as well....but he was just a flunky more or less.

As far as I know, Khan's son was Joachim. The actor who played him confirmed this in a Starlog interview years ago.

yeah, I was pretty sure he was Kahn's son as well, although he was too old to have been a son with Marla

In the book written by greg cox "To Reign in Hell: The Exile of Khan Noonien Singh" they tell the story planet side from khans perspective.Well actually from garry sevens point of view.Joacim is actually joacims' son and khan raises him as his own from his teenage years.

"To Reign in Hell" chronicles the fifteen years between the Original Series episode 'Space Seed' and the feature film 'The Wrath of Khan' - now widely regarded as a landmark in the Star Trek universe. Defeated by Captain James T. Kirk and exiled with his few remaining followers to the isolation of Ceti Alpha V, Khan Noonien Singh is marooned on a planet that has suddenly transformed into a hostile wasteland, where he and his band of acolytes must fight for their very lives. The once-proud conqueror finds his life irrevocably shattered, and begins his descent into madness...

Great book you should read it.
“When you say “It’s hard”, it actually means “I’m not strong enough to fight for it”. Stop saying its hard. Think positive!”

I read it, and he was nutso before the exile!

The planet's moon going blooey, and the biosphere turning against him and his people was just the icing on the cake.
