why would you want to explain that? i think they know they messed up big time and thats why it has only lasted for four seasons ( i think thats how many it is ).

ive tried watching the new series and it seems a very 'cold' tv series , does that make sense? The original had a warmth to it.

I have never liked the way they filmed it either , ie , someone with a cam corder which is constantly shaking , zooming in and out for no reason....i think this is to make it 'real' live footage.

all in all a complete **** up

I agree with you Antony-s, the Moore series seemed cold, and lacked charm of any kind. I've tried to like it, but it just never resonated with me, yet many folks here, whose opinions I respect, like the series a lot. I guess its all in the eyes of the beholder as they say.

I liked the new series for what it was...a good show with good actors & stories. It didn't really have to be called BSG but unfortunately it was.
I still wish they would've done the continuation that Richard Hatch had ready to go. Sounds like that is out the window again now? Probably for good at this point as everyone is just about too old to do it now.

Yup, 'cos it's the same thing that bothers me about a lot of newer shows. The characters are all "GRRR!!! I'm ANGRY!!!!" alll the time.

The shaky-cam thing is very annoying. I think I would like some TV shows better if they went back to the old style of filming. I guess it's "edgy."

The show has a HUGE following and I don't think it suffered in the ratings department. It certainly lasted longer than the original series which was only 1 season before it was revamped into the unwatchable Galactica 80. I believe it was ended to give the show resolution.

Realistically the show was about war, death and survival. So yeah the characters should be somewhat angry. The human race is at near extinction, we've lost our planet, our homes, our familys and we are constantly being pursued by angry robots who want to finish us off... but lets all pause and have a big group hug? That just doesn't work IMHO. The general attitude of the characters under that described scenario should be that of despair, passionate frustration and more importantly hope. They definitely succeeded in all three areas.

There were plenty of highly emotional moments of warmth and tendernees spread throughout, some were more subtle than others. From simple gestures like Adama and Rosilyn recommending and lending each other books (which was a reoccuring theme) to the sexual tensions between Apollo and Starbuck. Some of the best scenes were also between Adama and Starbuck. You could feel the love between them as a Father towards a daughter (even though she wasn't his daughter).

Many critics of the show chastize it for making Starbuck a woman. But when you really do a character study of the male version you see that there is basically nothing to the character. He comes across as being very one dimensional. All we really know about him is he likes to gamble, smoke and womanize. He really does nothing more than be the wisecracking sidekick to Apollo.

The Kara Thrace Starbuck is larger than life. She is strong physically, mentally and emotionally. Perhaps one of the strongest women characters to ever come along on the small screen. The writers gave her the same aspects of the male version (gambling, smoking & drinking) but they also gave her more depth. She is very intimidating to those around her. She speaks her mind or uses her fists at will. She is sexual without coming across as a "bimbo". She is wild, fearless and unpredictable. She also has a unique sense of humor. Plus she has a backstory. She was married to Adama's eldest son. Feels responsible for the death of that son. She came from a very dysfunctional broken home. Her mother was extremely critical and demanding of her and never showed any sign of approval. Her father was a gentle musician who genuinely loved her but left them (assumingly due to her mother's character attributes). The female version of Starbuck was by far more interesting than the male version.

I loved the new series. I had real grit and great cast of characters.

Starbuck was actually dead. She was unknowingly sent back as an "Angel" to guide the crew to Earth. That is why she found her own body and that is why she just disappeared once they got to our Earth...100,000 years in our past.

You gotta admit, that is one bad a** lookin' Cylon in the insert on that page.

A lot scarier looking than the original.

I was never into the new series; I tried watching it, but it was such a HUGE departure from the original, I couldn't get into it.

I'd like to see a revamping of the original done.

Richard Hatch, who played Apollo, made a short pilot, but it didn't sell, and he lost everything. He had to put his house up for auction and had a lot of debt to pay.

If they do a reboot, they are going to need a really good actor to be the main bad guy.

Someone who brings 'Nasty' to a whole new level.

It would have to be someone of the slightly older generation, cause let's face it, someone young in the part would be laughed at.

The new version WAS a revamp of the original and Richard Hatch had a strong presence as Tom Zarek who appeared in 22 episodes throughout the entire series.

Okay then, a reboot of the original, with Richard playing Apollo.

I've always been a believer that they could bring back as much of the original cast as possible for a continuation of the original BSG. JUst have it take place 25-30 years later and they still haven't found Earth due to some problem with their ships or maps or whatever (make something plausible up). Apollo can now be Commander Apollo, taking over for his father, Adama who passed on long ago, etc. Perhaps they would have even found the Pegasus to join them by now or even another Battlestar that escaped destruction. Of course Baltar would be dead or maybe they turned him into a cyborg when his body gave out? That could explain a different actor.
                        Lots of possibilities.

I think people are confused on which version Bryan Singer/Glen Larson might bring to us as a Theater release its based on the 2 hour continuation not reboot they had planned in 2001 for FOX tv .Richard Hatch was attached but only as an actor.Richard did make a short called Battlestar Galactica the second coming in 1999 but the two sories are complety diffferent takes on how to bring the show or movie back

That is NOT being a sellout; that is doing what one has to in order to recoup enormous losses, and let's face it, losing one's house is a biggie!

A lot of people decry money and those who have it, but it's unfortunately a big fact of life that a person needs it for simple necessities.

ANYway, let's get back to the topic at hand, which is the reboot.

I'd like to see Count Iblis come back, played by a major actor, but not too old of one.

If Derek Jacobi were maybe ten or fifteen years younger, he could do it, he's played major villains before, and was always scary as heck.

If Roger Delgado was alive, he'd be PERFECT for the role.

                                Stupid car accident!
