Doctor Who- the Waters of Mars Trailer + News on the Return of the Master

Here's the BBC trailer for Waters of Mars- looks like a good ol' fashioned scary story. Really not looking forward to David Tennant leaving. He's really just so , well, Brilliant! as the Doctor.

YouTube - Doctor Who Waters of Mars New Trailer 27th July

And here's an update on The Master's Return in the final two specials from the BBC WHO website. ..played by John Simm!

BBC - Doctor Who - Special, David Tennant, finale, Timothy Dalton, Alexandra Moen, Lucy Saxon, Catherine Tate, Donna Noble, Bernard Cribbins, Wilf, Comic-Con

It's the best of times, it's the worst of times.

Oh, and given a chance to be alone in that box with Michelle Ryan I'd have a new companion ASAP. Forget Rose & Martha, gimme Lady Christina!

I read Waters of Mars might be the return of the Master ...

It said an anagram of Waters of Mars is --- War of the Masters

And we all know how much RTD loves anagrams

According to IMDB Tommothy Dalton plays a Time Lord in it, that does seem odd for a stand alone story.

That is clever...and very possible after TORCHWOOD, BAD WOLF & YANA.

If you go on youtube there are some pretty crappy views of the trailer they showed at the San Diego Con, stuff people filmed I guess on their phones. Toward the end there is a scene where someone whispers "he returns" then they show Simm turn around to face the camera. But just before that is a very quick fade of a face, that while hard to see in the clip, looks a lot like Roger Delgado or Anthony Ainley's bearded Master of the 70s & 80s. I wonder if we will be treated to BOTH Masters, kinda of a team-up against the Doctor. Certainly the Master would not be concerned with bending time laws.

Looks like Donna Noble & family will be returning as well, kinda glad because I don't think that ending was wrapped up very well, and unsatisfactorily for the Doctor as well. Perhaps that's why he's refused new companions because he somehow knows he's not through with his last one quite yet. But hopefully Rose & Martha are out of the picture for good. Really tired of the unrequited love stuff, and I've a feeling we'll be getting more of that than we want in the new Doctor series. Torchwood:COE had a scene where Jack stated Martha was on her honeymoon, so I'm guessing she should not be re-appearing anytime soon. Might be nice though after the regeneration to see a little shocker there, just as it was with Sarah Jane.

          >I wonder if we will be treated to BOTH Masters, kinda of a team-up against the Doctor.

THAT would be AWESOME!!!! If the Doctor can team up with himself, why not the Master?

          >Looks like Donna Noble & family will be returning as well

That'd be cool too. I thought Doctor Donna was pretty funny. (And she still has his intellect; she just kinda forgot about it.)

....but I'd really like to see Jenny come back....

          >Really tired of the unrequited love stuff

I'm kinda hoping we don't get more too; not 'cos I really hate it, but because if you have the Doctor fall for every female he meets it cheapens the effect. He starts coming across as an old (REALLY old) perv. I thought it was funny that everyone THOUGHT him and Donna were a couple, even though they weren't.

          >I'm guessing she should not be re-appearing anytime soon.

Martha's currently on "Law and Order UK;" which is done by the other guys (ITC?) and the BBC is really unhappy about her jumpiung ship, so yeah she's probably not coming back any time soon.

If you listen to the clip above, it finishes with Tennant saying -- Cause I don't hear anyone knocking, do you ?

Suddenly there is FOUR knocks ......
Not exactly knocking the same way, but 4 knocks is the Sound of the Drums

Thanks to a Museum buddy I finally just seen Planet of the Dead.

                I can honest say, I wasn't impressed.

I have a feeling this whole series is going to be like Tom Bakers final season -- which was pretty depressing and lousy.

All Tennant needs at the end will be everone crowded around him saying "doctor" as he regenerates.

Or have him fall off a tower and then merge with "himself".

I liked Planet of the Dead, it wasn't a home run but storywise, it was a neat concept.

The problem with Planet of the Dead for me was I keep thinking it kind of ripped off The Langoleers
