For the record, the "30 -40 something year old losers" that I referred to were the individuals who disregarded the feelings of an 11 year old little boy and blatantly prattled on with their anti-Episode I (and anti Jake Lloyd/Anakin) remarks... in front of him. I guess some of these morons never learned the old adage that says "if you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all."

No, sadly in 1999 we lived in the information / internet age where everyone with a computer and something rude to say about someone else did so in the comfort of their own anonymity. This is still the case today.

And now this rudeness and inability to censor themselves spills over even in face-to-face circumstances with a little kid on a convention floor.

Is it "passive/agressive" to point this out? Maybe. But I don't see why pointing out the rudeness of others (and calling it such) is "passive / agressive" while people who go around offending others to their face (even little kids) are somehow becoming "cool" or "hip" in our culture.

Hector my friend, I certainly don't consider someone a "loser" just for disliking a prequel STAR WARS film. I've said this many times before. And despite your repeatedly-stated dislike for the prequels, I most definitely was not thinking of you when I made reference to "losers". I'm not nearly that shallow nor simple-minded.

However, far be it for me to stop you, if you wish to label yourself in that way.
First of all...I'm just messing with you...

I of course would never tell Jake Loyd in person that he sucked in Phantom...believe it or not...I'm respectful to people (in person).

I can separate reality and make-believe.

I'm glad he's moved on...and wish him nothing but the best.

Having said that...Jake Loyd was still bad as young Anakin (although Hayden Christensen might now be in the lead as the worst Star Wars actor ever)...and The Phantom Menace still sucks.

      Well said Hector!!

Here here!! If I drank beer, I'd have a laugh and throw one back with you right now, my friend!!

I totally understood where you were coming from, buddy. And in fact, I actually thank you for posting the Jake Lloyd interview in the first place, and bringing to light Jake's situation over the last 10 years dealing with this stuff.

But, uh... honestly Hec... "donkey testicles"???

      Sheesh!

I think it's a fair statement to say that ANY actor/actress involved in ANY of the Star Wars films has had more than their fair share of fanatics who have given them a moments pause to wonder if life would have been better without all the fuss. I think that's a pretty normal reaction for anyone stuck in the center of a social phenomenon like this. But the cool thing is their autograph will help supplement their income should they ever need it. Nice trade off I would think.

I just couldn't believe that some fans were so vicious to a child.
I think he did the job he was hired for, and I've seen much more obnoxious child actors.

I never had problems with his portrayal, and the same goes for my opinion of Hayden.

Don't blame the messenger, is what I say....

Whatever. As much as I am a Sci Fi fan and a used-to-be Star Wars fan, I think it's strange for people to pay too much attention on the actors let alone a kid who was asked to deliver lines. These actors are not finding cure for cancer. He's right. We know how intelligent people from highschool and college can be. Good for him. He went to school despite the people.
