    >Matt Groening (Simpsons)

Not surprising, considering how many times the 4th Doctor has appeared on the show.

    >Harlan Ellison

THIS surprises me. He likes something HE didn't write....?

    >Bob Dylan

        From wiki .......

The Complete Seventh Doctor (p47) lists singer Bob Dylan as a "great fan", such that he permitted his music to be used in the opening moments of season twenty-five without royalty. (Although Dylan's music was not in the event used).

Thats why Simon Pegg did the show. I would love to see some of the other fans do the show.

I wonder if Queen Elizabeth caught the episode from a few seasons back (with "Queen Victoria") that implied that the entire (including present day) royal family were secretly werewolves??

She probably don't even watch it.

The BBC just promotes her as a fan so they can also promote themselves as the maker of something the Queen likes.

On one of VH1's "I Love the 70s" series, they cover Dr. Who during the Tom Baker era. Several celebrities (and a few non-celebrities) comment on the show. Unfortunately, I can't remember anyone by name!

Back in the late 70's or early 80's Doubleday released a hardcover reprint book through their book club called The Adventures of Doctor Who. It collects Terrance Dick's novelizations of Genesis of the Daleks, Revenge of the Cybermen, and Terror of the Zygons.

Harlan Ellison contributes a preface to this book in which he thourougly gushes about how much he loves Doctor Who. Naturally, he can't resist making a couple of negative comparisons to Star Trek.

It's been a while since I've read it, from what I remember what Ellison liked is that the Doctor solves problems with his mind instead of his fists, the emphasis on sience instead of action, his pacifistic nature, intellengent scripts and so forth (all the things Star Trek isn't ).

Doubleday also released The Further Adventures of Doctor Who that has The Deadly Assassin/Face of Evil/Robots of Death. I don't have that one so I don't know if Ellison or anyone else contributed a preface to that book.

A transcript of Haralan Ellison speaking about DW was the forward to one of the early novels/adaptations. In later years tho people asked if he would use his influence on Sci-Fi Channel to get them to re-run old episodes and he said he didn't want to be bothered, ( Sci-Fi Buzz-long ago cancelled news program).

Patrick Stewart admitted he had watched William Hartnell as DW at a Trek Convention in NYC in the 1990's. The Trek fans applauded and whooped it up. Proving people who like Star Trek can be Doctor Who fans as well.
