Star Trek's Wolf In The Fold observation

For people who don't know titles, it's the Jack the Ripper episode.

Was just watching Wolf In The Fold last night -- and even though i've seen it a zillion times I had a new observation.

Did Jack the Ripper actually take over Scotty's body and kill the first 2 women ?

Watching him do this to Jaris on the Enterprise leads me to believe it was in fact Scotty's "body" who killed the the first 2 women.

Before yesterday, I always thought it was just Hingust's body (with Jack inside) doing it all.

    What do you think ?

I always thought it was hinguist was possesed by redjak and killed them, I thought he only jumped into Scottys body when they discovered his identity, as he did seem to jump around the crew before he entered the ships computer

      I dunno .....

On the Enterprise he jumped out of Hingust's body and left Hingust as a corpse for a while.

He then jumped back into Hingust quite easily.

This makes me think he could have done the same with Scotty on the planet.

I always thought it was Hingust the whole time, but you do make a good point. I will have to re watch the episode.

Ooh, that is a good one. If so, it adds to the horror of the episode, that our hero Mr. Scott committed murder, or his body did.

During the first murder, why else would Scotty be holding the knife ?

It doesn't sound right thinking Hingust came over, subdued Scotty mentally, killed the girl, and then put the knife in Scotty's hand --- then ran away.

It seems more likely - and easy- for Jack to jump into Scotty, kill the girl (leaving the knife in his hands) and then jump back into Hingust.

Yeah, it was Redjac possessing Mr. Scott IMO.

At the end when Kirk says ..... I know a place, where the women are so ...

I always wondered what the end of his comment would have been

No way he would have said beautiful or something like that ... It would have been a lude comment coming from Kirk

I'll have to watch the episode again. I always assumed Hingust.

I always thought that Scotty tried to stop Hingist from killing the women but was overwhelmed by the evil force within Hingist, then Scotty was used by the creature to cover up it tracks.Later the creature used the situation of Sotty being locked in a room with the female enterprise technician to further implicate him as the murderer. Then when the prefects wife was being murdered Scotty could sense the creatures presence but was to late to help her.
