any supervillains on TV in the 70s?

I was thinking about the Japanese Spiderman show vs the US version earlier today and I realized that I can't remember him battling any super-foes on the live action show. The only one I can remember that came close was when Peter Parker was cloned. All the other episodes had Spidey up against albanian drug cartels or deranged millionaires or some such thing.

Hulk was the same way. David Banner was a drifter who attracted trouble, but it was always in the guise of regular folks. Aside from the awful, but at times hilarious, Hulk/Thor TV special. I can't think of the green goliath smacking fists with any superbaddies.

Wonder Woman - same thing. She was always on the lookout for some spys or some other government subterfuge.

In contrast, the Japanese version of Spiderman roughed it up with some glorified rubbersuit monster every week. Usually getting his keister whupped and having to call on the valiant Marveller/Leopardon to beat the baddie.

At least Jamie Sommers battled a bionic bigfoot and some fembots, but she really was not in the canon of Marvel superhero TV star.

Is my memory faulty (very good possibility). Did any of the 70s superduper folks battle superduper enemies in the live action series or did they keep the fx at a minimum and just use thugs?

There was a Hulk episode with essentially a golden age Hulk that he ended up fighting.

Really, none of the live action stuff from any era had any major villains, outside of the Batman series. Not at least until the various Superman series of the 90s.

The Flash series fetured quite a few of his Rogues- Mirror Master, Trickster, Capt. Cold and a sorta Reverse Flash.

Flash was late 80s or early 90s? I'm not sure about that one; I stopped watching TV at that time.

I was thinking of the 70s shows and that was what I thought. No super villains, all civilian as it were. interesting.

How about Greatest American Hero - did he have any superfoes? I can't say I ever watched that one.

The wild wild west had some regular villians like Loveless.
Lo there do I see my Father.
Lo there do I see my Mother and my Sisters and my Brothers.
Lo there do I see the line of my people back to the begining.
            Lo they do call me.
They bid me take my place among them.

Duh. How could I have forgotten that? Anyways, the shows that had real villains were few.

Well, are you just looking for science fiction?

Because Wo Fat from H50 fits as a villain.

He tried to poison all of China using stolen venom, which China would blame on the U.S., starting WWIII.

Does that count? I know, he failed....but wasn't he supposed to?

If the bad guy wins, then there's no story.

Even Shazam and Isis didn't have any major villains to fight with. They just had to undo the stupidity of the local teenagers, get them out of trouble, and give them a moral at the end of the episode.

Challenge of the Superheroes (both of em) had a cornucopia of costumed criminals! Of course it wasnt a series. I Think Wonder Woman went up against a couple in the first season, when it was still WWII? Have to pull out the DVD's and check.

Other than that, the only goofballs in funny clothes were the superhero stars of the show.

No, the 70's shows tried to distance themselves from the "CAMPY" style from the 60's Batman and didn't use supervillians on purpose. they wanted to be more realistic. which is why some didn't last.

If they wanted realistic villains, they should have used drug dealers, abusive parents/teachers, and/or cops on the take, instead of airheaded teenaged dimwits who knew better than to get into trouble, but did anyway.

And who says that all supervillains are campy?

The only reason they got that reputation was because of the Batman TV series and that was due to the writers, who were all idiots of the lowest degree.

I'm pretty sure Electra Woman and Dyna Girl faced some super villains.
