To be honest, back in the day when I seen all the Star Trek movies new in the theatre I didn't even notice a different actress was cast as Saavik in Search For Spock... I think I didn't notice because Saavik was a peripheral character so I really didn't care that it might be played by a different person.

Yeah, I'm confused. Maybe still confused from my initial reactions. I like Kirstie then and was upset that she was recast. Especially since she had a descent sized part.

I had NO IDEA there were so many Robin Curtis fans thought she was generally not well-regarded or liked although I confess it isn't her fault. I'd have to go watch II and III again to see what I think.

I never caught Kirstie's eyebrows before either. Wow. How embarassing. I used to be so into this stuff.

The character of Saavik was written and directed differently, between II and III, too. So, I'm not sure that a comparison is that easy to make. It does bother me make-up wise that Kirstie's eyebrows are human and not in the Vulcan slant.

Kirstie Alley by a mile...the other one is a nobody journeyman...who cares...I don't...not one bit...

Kim Catrall was the hottest...but obviously a different character.

I heard that Kim sent a nude picture of herself to Leonard Nimoy, but she's always been a bit weird.

It's too bad that Saavik's character wasn't further developed after Search for Spock, she had real potential.

I think that was just wishful thinking on Alley's part.

On the other hand, on Undiscovered Country I can imagine the opposite, with Kim Cattrall goosing the whole cast repeatedly

I read somewhere that Alley pretty much accused all the male cast of Trek II of ogling here and pawing her all the time....Supposedly the real reason Nimoy recasted the part. Not sure if thats true or not? I can see Shat or Doohan trying to throw her the ol' jolly roger, but Deforest Keeley was too much of a gentleman, and Takei..well we all know why he wouldnt.
    Who knows?

Robin Curtis. Much better actress and more exotic or you could say Vulcan looking. I found Alley very bland in the part. I honestly didn't even care for the character until Curtis took over the roll.

That's the exact way I feel as well.Nicely stated.

Also I'm sorry but Curtis is just way better looking as well.

I preferred Alley as well. She was hot back then. it's a shame she let herself go.
