I forgot to post this the other day. I can't believe they just ran a James Bond marathon on there. No not the Roger Moore stuff. The Sean Connery stuff.

then again, what has the sci-fi channel shown that was actually good? This channel still is a huge disappointment to me"What motivated him to throw a puppy at the Hells Angels is currently unclear,"

Sci Fi Channel and TV Land seems to be going down the same path.
Both have EXTRA LONG commercial breaks lately.
Both have seemed to given up on their core 30's-40's-ish audience and now are going for a younger crowd.
Both have replaced they're main bread and butter (classic shows) with original programming.
Both now show movies that don't have anything to do with what their channel is about.
In other words -- both suckComment

I haven't watched that channel in over 15 years.. Since they took off all the morning Irwin Allen stuff, Trek stuff, jeez, even Space 1999. Yes, I'm in the 40s crowd, but if it doesn't have anything appealing to me, it's not even on the list of channels.
To me, it's primarily all dark stuff anyways.. no interest.

I never turned it off back in the 90s except to watch MST3k on comedy central. I zapped my dish network 5 years ago and I didn't miss it.
My wife loved the garbage like "Mansquito" but I couldn't tolerate the channel any further.
Canada's Space Channel isn't much better, they play frigging "relic Hunter" but when asked about "Space:1999" the channel head said "nobody cares about that show" Possibly true but also goes for 60% of what they currently air...Places to find PlaidStallions online: https://linktr.ee/Plaidstallions

The Sci Fi Channel died around 1999 for me and that was the last time I had cable and as for TV Land they are dead too ,The Retro Television Network has blown it out of the water!Comment

Hmmmm....
I think all cable specialty channels go through this sort of thing. There's a limited amount of material pertaining to your schtick; and you don't neccessarily want to make new stuff, 'cos that costs money.... so a fledgeling channel will show more ecletic material, older stuff, things like that. (Things that are cheap.) Once they get some cash to play with they'll start making their own shows, and looking for ways to "mainstream" their channel; so's to bring in more of an audience. Unfortunately that means hopping on much larger bandwagons. AND ditching a lot of older shows 'cos people don't like old. Supposedly. (Even if old shows IS your schtick! Note how many shows on TV Land are newly made commentaries on old shows, instead of actual old shows....) Eventually someone else will start a channel based on the same idea and the cycle continues....

For me, the beginning of the end for TV Land was when they started playing 1980's shows.
TV Land worked best when it just played 50's, 60's and 70's shows.
The channel itself was made to appeal to baby boomers and older gen-X'ers.
Not today. though
TV Land has lost itself
Today they should change their name to the Kitchen Sink ChannelComment

I used to watch it, now it is just a joke. With all the lame stuff they through on Sci-Fi now, it is hard to believe that a show like "Dog Soldiers" was a Sci-Fi original flick.LOOK

>For me, the beginning of the end for TV Land was when they started playing 1980's shows.
Hmmmm.... one of the things that's bothered me on a lot of stations is that "retro" now includes the 90's. It doesn't bother me 'cos I don't think the 90's are that old; it bothers me 'cos by the 90's EVERYTHING that came out was being analyzed, catalogued and nerd-processed so much that NOTHING escaped notice. (Especially once the internets hit.) So there are no surprises. If you go back to the 50's, 60's, 70's, even early 80's there were all sorts of "small press" and nice market entertainment products that never got a lot of exposure.
So shows from the early 80's doesn't bother me so much, 'cos there's a chance they'll show something I've never heard of.
