Oh geez. I'm sure there's some dope from Hollywood reading this and thinking "Hey! That's not a bad idea!"

I'm not a huge classic Land of the Lost fan, but I could watch it if there's nothing else on.

What I would have done in making this new movie .........

                1. Play it like the new Brady Bunch movie ... Keep the characters the same as the original and have them NOT IN on the joke that the movie is a lite comedy.

                2. In order to do this, you must hire a non comedic lead actor as the father

                3. Keep the original premises of a family ... If the movie is going to be geared toward kids, there no reason to rewrite the main characters as non related so sexual tones can be put in.
most film makers don't realize, even adults don't want to see sex in EVERYTHING.

This movie was doomed to fail from the start because the filmmakers didn't know what audience they were shooting to reach.

once again I agree with you when will Ferrell signed on the production it was doomed.the premise of the old show would have worked if also they had a good script and a good dramatic leading actor to begin with. I feel kinda bad for Sid and Marty cause this puts the kibash on any other of their properties getting made into feature films

The fact that the film is intended to be a comedy when the show was not(for the most part) that type of material made it dodgy from the get-go. I guess I'll wait for the DVD.

I was at a baptism for my younger cousins little girl today and my brother and I were talking about this movie, my cousins, their spouces and friends had never even heard of the TV show. I think someone said it earlier, the show had not been shown on TV in a long time and the younger generations have no connection to it.
I like Will Ferrel, in the right sitcom....he was great in Elf and in Old School, I don't think i have liked anything else he was in. it is always the same goofy character

I had absolutely no clue. I just tried to think of a series that had four male actors so I could fit Toyroom's four actors into an implausible movie.

Wouldn't that be weird if I was right? haha

He was excellent in Elf and I loved him on SNL but agree that his other movies stink.

I couldn't even watch Semi-Pro which was on cable the other day...not even a dvd rental.

Watch the screaming begin when he ends up getting cast as Ralph Hinkley in "The Greatest American Hero"

Just thinking who would have been a good Marshall

I keep coming up with Alec Baldwin ... mostly because he can play a good straight man - even in a comedy.

It's a terrible movie and I like Will Ferrell. My wife and I went to see it (her choice). We left the kids behind because we heard it was inappropriate for them. It is one of the least funny messes of a movie I have seen in years. On top of that, it is very inappropriate for kids. I can't figure out what they were trying to do with this. Since I run a theatre, don't feel too bad for me, we did see it for free.

I think the big mistake was the adult humour, it's a movie with dinosaurs/monsters and I can't bring the kids? If they made it a family friendly comedy, it likely would have done much better. Last year's "Journey to the Center of the Earth" was a light hearted affair for families and it quietly made 240 million.

LOTL's competition was UP (a kid's movie) and The Hangover (an adult comedy with no name stars), people want one or the other it seems.

The ad campaign itself was confusing, I wanted to bring my kids until I saw the Sleestaks humping.
