Land of the Lost has Bombed its official that one did not expect but not surprised they should have played it straight and no Will Ferrell.Read it on E-Online news this morning made 7 million the studio spent 100 million on production they were expecting at least 30 million opening day. not making it up

I was very surprised when I first heard about the project. While the show was certainly a staple of 70's television, it hasn't been in circulation for a long time so modern audiences, especially kids, wouldn't know much about the show if anything at all. So it ends up looking more like a spoof for Jurassic Park and dinos are something of a tired attraction right now.Comment

Yeah, I could see that being the biggest problem. Anyone old enough to remember the original show probably doesn't find Ferrell funny, and probably doesn't have enough of an attachment to the show to get real excited. And most of the audience probably doesn't remember it enough to care about recognition. (Unless they remember the 90's show....)

There's usually no inbetween with Will Ferrell...People either love him or HATE him.
I like him...so I will rent it on DVD. As for them lampooning "Land of the Lost"...well HELL, it was a silly show to begin with.
Harry Knowles liked it...and that's good enough for me.

they have been playing the original show on TV a lot this week. I could not even sit through one episode it is so bad. My kids took one look at it and walked out of the room, even my 5 year old. The effects are so bad it is painful to watchComment

I think Ferrell is hysterical, and I enjoy his style. Excellent in Saturday Night Live, but like many other vets from the show cast, the movies aren't always that great. I almost went to see it last night but got there too late.
When I first heard about it I thought: "Cool!" but then I heard it was starring Will Ferrell and I thought: "Crap! No way i'm going to see that. They ruined it by making it a spoof!" but then the old show started playing and I still liked the old show and the commercials for the movie started to actually look good so i had mixed feelings. Do I go see a movie with Will Ferrell that is probably going to be stinko because he's in it or do I go see it because it's Land of the Lost and hope WF didn't ruin it?
Guess I'll probably wait for the DVD unless I hear good things about it.

I Liked Will Ferrell in Elf alot. That movie was Cool. I'm a fan of Land of the Lost. I think I'll give the movie a shot

^ I think Elf was his best movie....everything else has been a miss IMO. He's going the way of Mike Myers, JIm Carrey & Eddie Murphy....there should be a law in Hollywood against even doing a picture with these guys.Think OUTSIDE the Box! For the BEST in Repro & Custom Packaging!Comment

I like Will Farrel overall. He's done some things I didn't care for much, but overall I find most of his movies funny.
I have no nostalgia for Land of the Lost, so it didn't bother me to see them make a spoof of it. It doesn't surprise me that it didn't do well, but man, that is quite a bomb for a big summer movie. I think Speed Racer made more money opening weekend.
Oh Bat. I used to have such respect for you. Please don't inflate that guy's ego any more than it already is!Harry Knowles liked it...and that's good enough for me.
