TV Show Openings - Teaser vrs Non-Teaser

In case you don't know what i'm talking about, the teaser is the minute or 2 start of a story BEFORE the main credits and theme song.

I never noticed this before, but I read teaser TV show openings were originally an American thing then later on caught on in Britain.

A good example of both openings on 1 TV show is Space 1999.
    Season 1 had a teaser
    Season 2 did not

Which version do you prefer ?
I'm not talking about Space 1999 specifically ...

I mean do you like a teaser, or do you want to get right into the action and get the beginning credits out of the way ?

    I personally like teasers

    What about you ?

you mean like in the original Star Trek? I loved that they gave that short start before credits and commercials. I could always tell right away which episode it was and whether I wanted to continue watching or not....that way I did not have to rewatch all the bad episodes

I don't have much preference either way but I hate some of the newer shows where they have like 10 minutes before they get to the opening credits (show title). Why bother at that point? And then they go to a commercial break and when they come back there's like 3-4 minutes of credits across the bottom of the screen while the show is going on.

What I really hate is openings that show clips of the episode coming up.
They totally ruin the whole thing by spoiling it.

A few examples .... Quincy, Columbo, Space 1999 season-1 and Buck Rogers

I like the long teasers like in Star Trek or 1999 and I like the short teasers which are clips from the show to come like in '78 Galactica. I don't know, seeing the teaser gets me every time. (Why it is called a teaser, I guess).
          It's all good!

i like when they use them on the new Doctor Who as it brings back theidea of a cliffhanger that the new series of hour episodes doesn't have anymore. but i hate it when you set a timer and your clock and the channels clock are off and then you miss recording part of the teaser! most show nowadays are leaving off opening credits and songs to get right to the story so you won't change to channel. i like opening songs and better yet credits that show who the actor is and thier real name so you don't have to figure it out later yourself.

I don't mind a teaser before the opening credits, but I hate when they show clips of the episode that comes. Lately I've been watching Murder She Wrote again (they're showing it on 2 different channels here now) and they always do that, I just look away or get a snack or something till it's out of the way

I like the credits first it gives me a buffer to start the vcr or dvr LOL

but seriously it depends on the show a 1 hour show the teaser is great (when it's not spoiler clips)

I do not enjoy seeing clips of the episode I am about to watch before the credits. I think it makes too easy to figure out what is going to happen and ruins the suspense.

I do enjoy, however, when the show just starts the story for a bit and then runs the opening sequence before returning to the story. I especially like how they handle it on Terminator:The Sarah Conner Chronicles. They basically start the story and the run the credits whenever a break makes sense. Sometimes you don't get the opening credits for 5 or 10 minutes.
