At this point I could not imagine there not being a sequel to this new Star Trek movie. There is too much moolah to be had here.

To Boldly Go Where No Trek Franchise Has Gone Before.Lo there do I see my Father.
Lo there do I see my Mother and my Sisters and my Brothers.
Lo there do I see the line of my people back to the begining.
Lo they do call me.
They bid me take my place among them.
In the halls of Valhalla where the brave may live forever.Comment

I checked the numbers from last year and was floored to find out that Indiana Jones went on to make nearly $800 Million. Most of that was from Foreign ticket sales (nearly 60%. Based on money, it was every bit as successful as any of the others. I used an inflation calculator and the $474 Million made by Last Crusade came out to $823 Million in 2008 Dollars.

The studio exec's said they weren't done with trek yet....unless the movie did realy bad and was panned by every one.The fact that the movie is doing great will only ensure the writers will take the best from this version and try and top it."Thats the ticket laddie"Comment

The fact that someone here saw the movie 4 times in a theater tells me loads.
I tend to be influenced greatly by MM members. I was going to see it anyway and if I hadn't had a late-season-cold over the last two weekends, I would have been there to form my own opinion. Now, that the opening has come and gone and I feel better, I thought I would just wait until it hit my local theater, but I might just saddle up tomorrow and trek on over to Oklahoma City to see it.Comment

I don't really feel I'm going out on a Limb to say....you WON'T be dissappointed!Unless of course...you can't get past the the fact that younger Actors are replacing our Childhood Icons. But honestly...they really capture the essence and spirt of our Heroes.

I finally got a chance to see it Saturday with my family. My wife is a good sounding board because she hates action flicks and anything sci-fi.
I asked her if she liked it and she gave an emphatic yes. Her exact words were that she went in thinking she was going to hate it and the first 10 minutes or so didn't really appeal to here so she did her typical nodding off.
Then the first laugh of the movie, she immediately came out of her daze and watched the rest of it with enthusiasm and said it was really, really good.
I'm not a huge follower of the tv series but loved the movie. I thought the movie has the broad audience appeal but also gives a bit of a wink and a nod to those that really love the series.
In my opinion, it is similar to the first Spider-Man movie in that I thought it had broad audience appeal but also was close to the comics.
There are definitely going to be die hard fans who are going to complain about x,y, and z but I definitely thought it was the best of all the Star Trek movies made to date."The farther we go, the more the ultimate explanation recedes from us, and all we have left is faith."
