I was surprised too, that there was not much said about that bug, no attempt to rip it out or whatever.
Didnt Eric Bana do a great job. (Not bad for an Aussie aye?)
So there is talk of more movies? Already?Do you think it will go to a miniseries? Do you think they will have trouble casting the same people due to other commitments. Wouldnt it be cool if they DID decide to do a TV series. Then it really is Star Trek reloaded.
    Anyone?

I thought there was a new animated series in the works; set a bit more in the future than Voyager.... wherein the Federation and Romulans had a big time war and sort of "broke" reality....

            Anyone?

Actually a Producer(Director?)has already expressed the desire to do a live action TV series, set in the same time as the new Movie...but on a different Ship.

I know Manny Coto was pushing to do a series set in the original series continuity during the original series era....good luck with that now. Another guy was proposing a Yorktown series set in the new era continuity. From what I read at Trek Movie (or maybe it was Trek Web?) JJ was dead set against any tv series (which is what kiboshed the animated series as well).

I think he's just trying to ensure his Trek movies keep a clean slate, and Paramount doesnt double dip with Trek, as they have been prone to do in the past when its popularity rises.

Your right. Come on folks look at all the people who were ****ing and moaning by the time Enterprise came out. At any given time one of the 5 shows were running and people got overloaded.

Hey, I haven't read this thread, I skipped to the end just to say that the Title of this Thread is a SPOILER.

I'd prefer if, for what it is worth, that the title be something like "New Trek Movie Spoiler Question"

I've avoided this movie and any news as much as I can but I had no idea there was any trick to the ending until now. I do know they have a time travel rewrite of history going on but I'm avoiding it. I may see it later.

I don't know if this post serves a purpose but I'll likely come back to read it after I see the movie in a few weeks.

And I only found this thread because I was searching for a Trek thread before I post another Trek Mego question.

Is there a sub forum for Mego Trek? If there were, I'd probably stay over there. I think I've gotten on some peoples nerves with my never-ending Trek-only questions...

But anyway, fyi, the title tipped me to news I had so far successfully avoided.

Dude, I think you are wrong there. This thread simply states:

"Question about the new Star Trek ending (spoilers) "

A question about the ending of the new ST film. Not about the whole film.

1 question. 1 detail. A detail not specified in the title of this thread.

About how the film ends for people who are not sure what the implications are for sequel films yet to be made.

                          Thread may have spoilers.

Avoid this thread if you don't want to know how the film ends.

No specifics about topic are given unless you enter thread.

I will refrain from responding to the question for a time so I don't spoil the film for you in this post. Oh, right. You should avoid this thread not to read the spoiler. So you won't see my response. LOL!

That is a great idea. I ran that adventure once, sort of, for the FASA Star Trek Role Playing Game.

I didn't like this movie a lot but I ran across this thread. I think Kirk probably "relieved" Pike as Captain and Pike is gone. I will be watching it again this week I think though because my youngest son missed it at the theater.

They way they say it, it sounds as if Pike will be on the Enterpise too (when he fully recovers from his injuries).

I wonder if the situation in the next movie will be similar to the setup they had on Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea where Lee Crane was Captain of the sub but deferred to Admiral Nelson who was always on board.

It makes sense, they made Kirk Captain, gave him command because... well, he saved the Earth and Pike. But still they are not ready for him to be the sole authority on the Enterprise. So, Pike will be with them.

I think that makes sense since I'm sure they want Pike back for the next movie.
naval tradition has admirals and commodores commanding mutiple ships stategically, the Captain commands his own vessel tactically so the nelson capt crane model fits. original Star trek had many instances of flag officers playing ship captain - and it's basically what Kirk does in STTMP and ST2

If the timeline is slowly trying to correct itself, maybe in the next movie Pike might be an Admiral stationed onboard the Enterprise and he might have a mishap to put him in the chair (as we know him from the Classic Series).
