Did anyone here catch the Red Dwarf Special "Back To Earth" around Easter time? How was it?

Ive seen alot about it coming to Dave TV and not the BBC but nothing really on the actual show.

Ive seen alot about it coming to Dave TV and not the BBC but nothing really on the actual show.

I did enjoy seeing the cast get back together again. A little bit too self reflexive for my tastes, but overall it was nice to get another series. Blade Runner riff was fun.

I would like to see them around for another series now that they have all the nudge wink with Coronation Street out of the way. I would like to see them more in line with the scifi spoofery of the previous series which brought back the rest of the Red Dwarf crew for the characters to bounce off of.

Nice to see how the Red Dwarf looks with a bit of contemporary SFX, although there is a lot of pregnant pauses now without a laugh track.

It was OK, i had to watch it again to really appreciate it.

For the first 2 episodes i was wondering why are they doing this, then in the last episode, when they explained it was like the despair squid episode, it made a bit more sense.

As for the laughter, it was always filmed in front of a studio audience, they never used canned laughter ( i have been, so i know ).
As most of this was filmed in green screen, they couldn't have an audience present.

So what are some details?

Kristeen is gone? Rimmers a hologram again? Is the last season cliff hanger explained? Where is Holly? What happens?

IS it all a dream like the Despairsquid episode?

All I can find about it on the web is that it fell flat.
