    I dislike the word "Trekkie"

I must admit, I hate the word Trekkie, Trekker, etc.
    Are SW fans Warsies?
    LOTR fans Lordies?

I know, some ST fans are in a world of themselves, but that applies to most of the hardcore fans of almost anything.
Some people collect bottle caps. Are they Cappies?
    Others stamps. Stampies?
    Others teddy bears. Teddies? Huggies?

To me, it's almost a swear word, invented by people that really dislike SF.

I don't like the word Trekker, either, because that's the Dutch word for someone who plays with himself.

Star Trek fan doesn't seem too much to ask for, IMO.
    Make it so!!!!

    I love the word Trekkie

It reminds me of the 70's when Trek fans were PROUD to be called Trekkies

The name Trekker began in the 80's when NEW fans started to think the name Trekkie sounded effeminate.

Trekkies was the original and I wouldn't change it for anything

Actually Gene Roddenberry coined that nickname when conventions first started. I'm proud to be know as a Trekkie!

(hey mods, we really need a Star Trek smilie!)

Trekkie, Trekker, Nerd, geek, it's all good.

              Nerd pride!!
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

I agree I like being known as a Trekkie. It reminds of the beginning of it all.

Count me in as a Trekkie...I love to refer myself as a Trekkie.

I do NOT like Trekker...it's just a pretentious way of saying Trekkie.
