Help me identify odd Star Trek the Motion Picture Soundtrack LP

I was going through my Trek stuff today and came across the STTMP soundtrack LP I bought as a kid at a used record shop.

What is unusual about it is on the top left on the back of the record jacket embossed in gold it says FOR PROMOTION ONLY Ownership Reserved By CBS Sale Is Unlawful.

The record sleeve on this one has color photo on one side of 12 different alien species from the movie and the other side has scenes from the movie. The regular copy of the STTMP soundtrack I have only has a plain white sleeve. The label on the LP itself is white and says DEMONSTRATION NOT FOR SALE on it. The regular LP label is red and the font is also different. The white label reads J. Goldsmith- All published by Ensign Music Corp. (BMI) under the track listing and the standard red label just reads J. Goldsmith.

    So, what exactly is this?

You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

It sounds like a press kit promotion or something like it(there's stuff like this for the new movie)Jerry Goldsmith did a lot of great work in Hollywood music including POTA and all star trek until Nemesis(he passed in 2004)His son now carries on his work. What you have might be a rare item.

I believe my store bought copy from 1979 had the same record sleeve with the aliens on it. I know it was not a blank white sleeve. It had also come with a 12x16 inch poster of the new Enterprise which I then had on my wall for about 10 years.
      It's all good!

I have one such Promotional Use LP, for "The Final Countdown" with Kirk Douglas.

Normally, these aren't sold, of course, but mine was just bought in a regular store. I think these slip in the regular stock now and then.

You really shouldn't have it in your possession, it's illegal, so please send it to me, so I can dispose of it safely. It's a hassle, but I'm willing to make this effort on your behalf.....
