Make sure you watch the letterbox side -- and watch the whole thing including the overture ... to get the full effect

Oh god yes, don't watch it in fullscreen. Only 99 cents, hmmm? I never did pick up the Anchor Bay DVD so I might have to do a bit of shopping around.

The Black Hole is an interesting movie. I didn't end up seeing it as a kid, nor did I have any of the toys. I really only had a vague notion of what it was about. A few years ago I saw it for the first time and I have to say I really liked it. At times it's a bit juvenile, but it's also very dark as well. It has an odd quality that reminded me of Space: 1999 in some way. Just something unsettling about it, in a good way (well maybe not if you saw it when you were young). Anyhoo, the effects are great and it's absolutely worth it.

man watched the widescreen version with intro last night like type1kirk said all I can say its damn good! actually its really dark.the effects look better then most of the cgi crap thats out now but im old school. but I did see a couple of wires for the robots but that was the technology back in 78 when they shot this .the acting was fine,John Barry's score was brilliant! I didnt find anything cheesy or juvinile about it ,actually maybe the script was a little flat at times and some of the technical things were oddball but usually I dont pay attention to that in classic sci fi films I like escapism you either go with it or you dont 2 hours well spent

The Anchor Bay DVD is fine for those that don't have anamorphic setups but for those with wide screen TV's, the anamorphic Disney release is the way to go.
