DW Planet of the Dinosaurs talk

Just saw Planet of the Dinosaurs again last night.
It's been a few years since I seen it last.
    Man, those dinosuars looked BAD
I hate updating old TV shows with new CGI SFX, but I think when Dinosaurs is eventually released on DVD it's a MUST.
... and their roars were really bad ...
They could have done better then getting a guy to hollar "ROAR!!!"

I also hate the fact they turned Mike Yates bad.
He was sooo out of character, it was embarrassing to watch.

Other then that, it wasn't a bad story.

What do you think of POTD ?

The one I was talking about was a classic Doctor Who story ... I messed up the title -- it should be INVASION of the Dinosaurs

... But YOU have me interested

Are you talking about The Last Dinosaur with Richard Boone ?

      I love that movie

I hated that Mike is the heavy although a sypathetic one (I haven't watch planet of the spiders in a while did they explain it away as side effects from the BOSS reprogramming if Mike in Green Death)?

The not so special effects and CSO at this point have become charming for me. the best is to put the commentary track on for Carnival of monsters Barry letts uses every opportunity to take cracks at the Invastion of the Dinosaurs' monsters

              >Man, those dinosuars looked BAD

It's an odd bit for me; the effects were pretty bad, but I liked the look of the dinosaurs. It was one of the episodes where their ambition far outstripped their abilities. But for me the idea of something is always more important than the actuality of it; so the effects didn't bother me.

              >I also hate the fact they turned Mike Yates bad.

Yeah, that was kind of a surprise.

Overall I liked the episode. NOt one of the best, not one of the worst.

They tried with the Dinosaurs but ambition stripped budget sadly, I don't mind the story but I forgotten about Mike's "Heal turn".

"Planet of the Dinosaurs" is a low budget classic, at least I enjoy iy. Somebody took all the Dinosaur footage in the early nineties and shot an even crappier movie around it, I rented it and wow, it's a bunch of people wandering in a back yard looking at old footage.

The trend is to add new sfx when the episodes hit DVD. They've upgraded effects on some stories but those have been tweaks. This would amount to a lot more than tweaking but I think they could upgrade the effects and not have it stand out too much.
