This was the worst Dr Who episode in recent years and i cannot give you even one thing to recommend it.

The word Special obviously did not refer to the content.

                      You know,
For some reason, that doesn't bug me.
Knowing Tennant is on borrowed time, i'm almost glad they're putting out lousy stuff so when the end comes, I wont feel so bad.

Weird, but that's how I feel

How was it compared to Love and Monsters ?

Agree with you wolfie, there wasnt anything special about it.

Even the trailer for the next special didnt seem that good either.

It was better than that piece of garbage.

Like the others said though, it wasn't good enough for a special but it would have been an ok episdode, imo.
On the plus side, it did have Michelle Ryan in it ( Bionic Woman re-make, Eastenders ).

I though they were showing 3 specials over the summer then the christmas special but it turns out we have to wait until autumn ( fall ) for the next one then there's a double regeneration special at Christmas.

The ending kind of remeinded me of the Iris Wildthyme character from the Audio's, except that she's a Timelord.

Yeah, the story was very poor.
The way they resolved the "problem" was just: let's cover up the lack of a good script with a lot of loud music, an impressive location, and some spx.
Only Tennant's enthusiasm got me through the episode.

Btw: why alien bugs wear Earth type coveralls, is beyond me. A waste of resources, this whole episode!
                            .
                            .
                            .

                              I didn't see it yet.
I'm guessing it wont hit America for at least a few months.
But, I read about it's plot on wikipedia (I don't mind spoilers)
                              It does read very mediocre.
It said the plot ripped of an old Jimmy Stewart movie about a plain crashing in a desert.
I think it was called Flight of the Phoenix or something to that nature.
