What are the Fundamental differences between Star Wars and Star Trek?

    Star Wars occurs at some point in the past (even though the technology is more advanced than our current technology) and isn't anywhere close to Earth. Star Trek occurs in the future and does include story lines which include Earth.

      I always liked them both , they are different in many ways in my opinion.

        I like both franchises equally for different reasons...except for the horrid Star Trek V and TNG flicks (except First Contact)...and the horrid new Star Wars trilogy.
