    Just watched the finale.

I really couldn't help but compare it to the british version, which I enjoyed much more than the US incarnation.

Does a North American audience really need it to be that literal? I loved the fact that the UK LoM left things purposefully ambiguous because there was no real explanation that would have left the audience really satisfied at the end.

I just think Mars is best left as a metaphor. Just my opinion.

Just curious how everyone else compares the two versions.

I think the Brit version was purposely left a bit open ended because they wanted to do a third series or obviously, the spin-off series Ashes to Ashes.

The US version was done, no chance of a sequel or second season, so they capped it off, which was a mixed blessing (we got an ending of sorts, but the series was through). Better than having it just disappear with nothing.

I actually liked the ending they chose, tied things up nicely. I for one did not expect it to literally end with it all being about a search for "Life on Mars"...I was expecting some sort of Quantum Leap experiment or such.

Of course, having the series continue would have been better.
