    Kamen Rider Dragon Knight

I must live in a cave because I was completely surprised to find a new Kamen Rider series on CW while channel surfing with the kids.

While the show is a step up from Masked Rider, I found it odd that it was Saturday mornings, it's almost a show for adults. My kids, no stranger to the original series, were bored out of their minds and I was a bit confused by what was going on. The rider suits are quite a departure too, they looked more like Power Rangers.

After about ten minutes, the kids asked me to watch some Kamen Rider V3 instead, I was happy to oblidge. Anybody been following this from the beginning?

Didn't know there was a new show on either. I've been going through a bit of a Power Ranger/Kamen Rider/Spectreman/Kikaider/etc phase for the last few months and never tire of sending my friends clips from 60's/70's sentai series that I discover on youtube.
I've been going nuts over the designs of all the costumes, this could also have something to do with me going ape **** over the Henshin Cyborgs/Deny's Fisher Cyborg/Muton's I've started to collect. Good to know other people on the board appreciate sentai.

I go through little sentai phases myself, I'm really a fan of the seventies and some of the 80s series. I even started into the henshin cyborg stuff for a brief time but eventually had to let it go and be happy with my popy figures.

        Hmmmm....

I have a friend who's a HUGE sentai/metal hero fan, and he's seen this one. It's a mishmoshed version of one of the later Kamen Riders. (I can't remember which one.) The biggest change is that they've made the bad guys part of a unified team, whereas the original had either a number of teams, or a lot of random baddies. (I can't remember which.) So that's no doubt contributing to it being hard to follow.

I gotta admit, I'm not really a sentai action fan. Well.... except for Akumaizer3. THAT show rocked! (My friend has been looking for JACQ, which he's heard is pretty different too.) And the English Dynaman. "Launch the fake-looking model!" "Ours looks faker!"

I do like my kaijyu tv though. Ultra-Q. Ultraman. UltraSeven. Anything with an "Ultra" in it. (Even "Great.") Spectreman, Giant Robo, Brain 17....

I notice the Power Rangers are still on, with new series being shown on the Disney channel. Which makes me laugh, considering how horrified people were when it first came out.

I've watched sentai stuff on and off over the years, but I'm a casual fan, I'm more of a Godzilla guy myself. I didn't know there was a new Kamen Rider show on US television either, but I'm always happy to see yet more Japanese pop culture getting exposure in North America.
