The Captain: Someone a little older than James T. Kirk, maybe in his mid forties, divorced with three kids, on good terms with the ex spouse.

I can see that. Kind of a Lost in Space patriarch role as a lot of older sci fi formula had it. I think it would work.

The Chief Engineer: A technowiz who can juryrig anything a la MacGuyver in any given situation.

The Helmsman: A slightly Han Soloish character who gets the ship out of trouble faster than they got into it.

The Navigator: Someone who can plot fifteen different escape vectors at any given time.

I think any one of these calls out for a cocky aussie female. In the mold of Starbuck without the dysfunction.

Well, looks like I'm a stand out. I'm not crazy about another television series because the concept is so saturated, I fear it would quickly wipe out interest in a new movie franchise (outside of the current one ready for release). People in general need to be hungry for this subject matter and if you go back to making new shows along with the trillions of reruns that are currently available by other Trek related titles, this franchise will quickly hit the danger zone in overkill. The last thing I want to see on television is a new set of Trek actors (with appliances glued on their foreheads) holding hands and singing we are the world. It will quickly undermine the efforts of a new movie franchise which I would support, if done correctly.

I doubt any new series will hit the airwaves for some time. Paramount is trying to resurrect a franchise they killed through oversaturation (and crummy writing). Surely they arent silly enough to do the same thing all over again?

...Who am I kidding? Of course they are! ......In that case I vote for the all female cast as well.....including Orion Go-Go dancers to give it that 60's feel!!

i just want trek to be back and be as popular was starwars the clone wats tv series---they should make an animated series for kids!
