    New STAR TREK TV Series?

I found something interesting that even type1kirk might like? Remember how we've all talked about how we'd like to see a Star Trek TV series set in the TOS Universe...but on another Starship...so there would be no "re-casting" of the original Crew? Well...it looks like somebody might be listening to us after all?

I wouldn't be opposed to that, b/c it would have a completely diffferent crew. And if they can recapture some of the 60s magic, so much the better.

I love “Dead Like Me,” “Wonderfalls” and “Pushing Daisies”, as well as Fuller's run on Heroes and the Trek shows he was involved with give me faith that he can pull this off if they gave it to him.

I'd be on board with that idea. I've always given the Trek franchise the benefit of the doubt even if I didn't care for every tv series that was made.

Cool, they could even use one of the other starship captains that were either mentioned or used in the TOS.

They'd just need to make a deal with Emce to produce new figures of the new crew to make it perfect.

I have always thought a CGI version (like star wars clone wars)based on Kirks missions after "star trek the motion picture"and before "the wrath of kahn"(star trek phase II)would work. There's over a ten year gap to play with. They could even get the TOS gang to do the voices. If they wouldn't have gotten to weird with the animated adventures it would have done much better.

Ooooohhh boy! Here's a topic worth sinking my teeth into.

First off, let's hope that the writers actually KNOW science fiction, Trek, etc. and above all know how to WRITE!

Cuz, let's face it, not all writers know how to write, or know sci-fi, and when they attempt it, it shows, no matter how glitzy the show is.

With that being said, I'd like to see a new series set back then, with a totally different starship and crew.

Crew requirements? Here's a little something off the top of my head.

The Captain: Someone a little older than James T. Kirk, maybe in his mid forties, divorced with three kids, on good terms with the ex spouse.

The First Officer: Vulcans have kind of been done to death. Let someone else have a shot at it. Maybe someone of M'Ress' species, that'd be interesting. Male or female, it doesn't matter which.

The Chief Medical Officer: Please, not another McCoy! He was a good doctor, but sometimes his hard headedness drove me nuts! How about someone like George Clooney's character on ER, Dr. Doug Ross? (As for Clooney himself, they'd never be able to afford him.)

The Communications Officer: How about a guy? Someone who really knows his stuff?

The Chief Engineer: A technowiz who can juryrig anything a la MacGuyver in any given situation.

The Helmsman: A slightly Han Soloish character who gets the ship out of trouble faster than they got into it.

The Navigator: Someone who can plot fifteen different escape vectors at any given time.

You've got some good ideas...but I can't agree with you on the Captain. The Captain has to be an action Hero(tough Guy), about Kirk's age...maybe a little bit older(NO KIDS!). I'm thinking Ray Liotta(and a Ladies Man like Kirk).

^^^ Liotta would be a great choice.

                              Naaaahhh.

If you want a ladie's man, I'd suggest Dirk Benedict. He's not that old, and he's already played that part in a couple of different series.

                              Okay, no kids.

                              Or Christopher Eccleston?

Heck, who says the Captain even has to be African-American?

Get a good looking dude for the part, and maybe I'll tune in.
