    Joss Whedon's Dollhouse

    Anyone else sticking this out?

Four episodes in and I'm not really that interested, but I also thought the first season of Buffy wasn't that strong either, so I'll hang in a while longer.

As much as I loved her as Faith on Buffy and in Bring It On, I don't quite think Eliza Dishku has the versatility or acting chops to pull off different characters ala Scott Bakula in Quantum Leap.

It's a Quantum Leap kinda show? Think I'll pass then. Quantum Leap wasn't bad, but it was never my favorite show. I prefer Bakula in Enterprise

Thomas it's nothing like quantum leap way different.

I am sticking it out as well the problem with joss is he gets way better as the show unfolds.
I mean his firefly was just hitting it's stride when it was pulled the last three episodes they filmed that never aired were awesome.
I agree the first season of buffy was a little weak but it was only twelve episodes long so that's what I'm talking about. He is very long winded but usually tells great stories.

So far I'm kinda liking this, but there's just a little too much left out. They need to explain a bit more about who operates the Dollhouse & why the "dolls" are there. How can I care that someone wants to shut it down if I don't know why it needs to be? They also started the renegade Alpha doll storyline...of course more will be revealed as it goes along, but I really hate stuff that drags out all season & beyond. It's why I'm not a fan of LOST, and I lost interest in Heroes.

Not everything needs to be overly mysterious, sometimes it's good to get the ground rules up front. Given that the networks tend to pull the plug quick on non-perfomrming shows (like Life on Mars) there's really not time for too much mystery. And then things end without an explanation (like Quantum Leap or X-Files- both shows that had many chances to give a final ending with answers, both faded out to poor resolutions.

I skipped Friday's episode, barely watched the first episode but did watch the 2nd & 3rd ones.
I see nothing that makes me want to drop everything and sit down and watch it but it's not a bad show.
It is a little mysterious and weird (and maybe I missed something by not watching the premiere?) and I thought slightly boring (hence not paying much attention while watching episode #1) but enjoyed #2 & #3 more.
Let's boil it down to this: if Eliza Dushku wasn't the star I probably wouldn't have watched any episodes at all. I miss Tru Calling.

Hmmm, never got into Heroes and although I really liked Lost at first they're really dragging it out now. I'm still gonna watch the final season because I've seen all the others, but I'll be glad when it's over. So, if this turns out to be like Heroes or Lost I'm probably gonna watch one episode and call it quits after that... unless something spectacular happens. But I quickly lose intrest in a show

I watched the first episode, and got bored. A good show is character driven and you can't have your main characters changing personalities each week.

That's what I couldn't quite put my finger on. You got it right there. I have no care about Dushku's character because she's like a brainwashed zombie when she's not programmed with a personality. Makes it hard to care about her (even though they are attempting some sort of backstory).

Sorry, no not time travel. I was just using as a comparative performance where the primary actor was required to become someone new every week. Although I guess it's not really a fair comparison... Bakula's character was still himself, just stuck in someone else's body.

Actually, for those that have stuck with it and pay attention, there is development going on with the Echo character.
She has shown signs of remember things from her personas in the last 3 episodes.
It seems the memory wipes aren't quite complete.
And she is smart enough to not let the people in the Dollhouse see that she has these memories.

Personally I am loving this show, but fear the ratings are not good enough to allow it to keep going long enough to get really good.

While there is an overall storyline that tie the episodes together, each episode does stand on it's own.
It has a begining, a middle, and a conclusion.

That was the first thing out of my mouth but I imagine the gimmick is we'll unravel her as the series expands. I really don't like the fudged logic of a business anybody with money can find but the cops think it's a myth.

When they recycled the plot from "The Most Dangerous Game" a couple of weeks ago, I knew the show was doomed. I saw David Banner and Logan 5 do that in the 70s.

The likelihood of me watching anything that is not vaguely ape related is slim to none. I have no clue what this show is about or when it airs. I have heard of it, but that's about it.

Its a sci-fi show on Friday evenings on Fox, how long do we really give it?

Its not a bad show and I'll watch it while its around to see where it goes but I have DVR to thank for that.

Well I'm really liking it now that I've seen eleven episodes.Whats not to love about it?
the dollhouse is the old wolfram and heart office from Angel,
It has amy acker(fred Burkle)from angel,
paul ballards' (Helo from BSG) apartment is cordellias old apartment from Angel,
It also has the lawyer guy from BSG (I think he also played badger from firefly?)
Of course it has Eliza(faith from buffy/angel)
It's got all I need and then some.
