Thought it was great. Seems a little like Dune, though, insofar as it seems to be most suited for those who know the source material. My 12 y/o son liked it. Did not seem like almost 3 hrs. to me.

As a long time fan of the film I was blown away. The feel of the original is there and the sub plots dropped (under the hood, the 80's anti hero riot) I felt were approproiate to keep the film moving.

YES silk specter is hot (so it the actess playing Sally Jupiter)

dr manhatten in his naked glory right out of the comic as Dave Gibbons drew him so I expected/accept it

complaints - Nixon was the worst makeup for a nixon I've ever seen

Niteowl fights a little too well in the prison scene. He is a little too much Bale batman and not enought gadgety blue beetle but I can inderstand the change

Every year, myself and a bunch of various local musicians get together and make a record of Christmas and holiday themed songs. It is sort of a musical holiday card that whoever is involved gets to send out for the holiday season.

What the hell does that have to do with the Watchmen?

It is sort of a holiday party/bbq/recording session. The cast for these things is ever changing, there may be 20 musicians and folks flow in and out of the recording room picking up instruments and suggesting songs and things to do. We go with them and if something is worth pursuing it gets recorded.

This last go 'round, a young lady who was singing with us started to riff on Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah. Very good groove for the musicians involved, tho an odd choice for holiday music. But like I said, when we host this party if it is working it gets recorded. So we pulled of a pretty fun version and out it went on the 2009 record.

OK, what the hell does this have to do with the Watchmen?

Hallelujah is the song used for the second Owl Spectre love scene after they go out in their suits and get jazzed up enough to make it work. I had to stifle a major guffaw as the scene got into the hot and heavy and I will never listen to that Xmas recording the same way again.

For this and many other reasons, I very much enjoyed the Watchmen. I am glad someone was able to translate it to film and that the books will have many more folks take a look at them.

There is a lot of negative press and review for this film. I disagree with most of it. If anything gets folks to read a little and expand their horizons, it is very well worth it.

                Hallelujah people

I think a lot of professional movie reviewers have trouble admitting when a movie succeeds where they predicted it would fail....

The next weekend box office was really bad--big dropoff. I thought word of mouth would be better---everyone I hear from loved it, but some of you are reporting people walking out of it. The reviews were mixed, but so much of what I read seemed like obnoxious posturing to show how smart they think they are. Too bad, I think it was one of the best comic book adaptations ever.

i liked the movie but needed more base knowledge. I kept asking myself, why didn't the main character age? The dude was at least 67. A few other things baffled me also. How did the female lead become a superhero. Did she take over for her mother?

                          Think SGT/Nick Fury.

The movie could only touch on the subject, but there was some real resentment toward her mother because Laurie really never had a choice in the matter. She was raised by her mother to be the successor and that is all her life had amounted to.
