Another example is the first Star Trek movie. It's my personal favorite, but it's not really a very good "Star Trek" movie, if you see what I mean.
Totally agreed. And yes, the first Trek movie's also my favorite of all the films ('cept 'First Contact' perhaps..). Really don't know why, other than the fact that it seemed like the only film that actually tried to go somewhere new. There were 'better' Trek films, but the first was my favorite.

Funny thing about it, we hardly hardly ever talked about Battlestar, A-Team or anything TV related...
We just talked small talk for like a 45 mins.
At the end he wouldn't accept any money for his autograph.
He probably considered me knowing who he was enough payment

WOW, excellent story.. That's exactly what I do, even at a 1999 con a few years back. I just talk fly-fishing, film directors and wine with most celebs.

'Course I usually take care of their bar tab as well.. I had a hell of a time getting the late Barry Morse a Pinot a few years back on a Saturday afternoon in Tampa.

It tends to make me VERY popular at the cons I actually do get to attend.

I'm hoping to Meet Gerard this summer at a con, I've walked past him before and regretted it. I'll probably bring my Buck Rogers box to get signed.

I also love the first trek movie, this is likely due to me being 9 and just buying into the whole thing full force, action figures, the Marvel comic series, happy meals. Even the movies dullness (hey I was 9) didn't deter me....

I liked the Buck Rogers show, Ive got the set from back when Wal Mart was selling it for 20 bucks. Funny I went in our local Movie Stop a few weeks back and they had a used one for 49.99!!!
I liked the first Trek Movie too, and pretty much for the same reasons Plaitoy stated.

I was about 15 when I seen Star Trek The Motion Picture on opening night.

I remember loving it just for the sake of seeing the crew back together and the new ships and special effects.

It's "boringness" never even occured to me until I heard other people pan it later on.
