OK. Maybe someone will know what this is. A friend of mine who had a reputation for BS'ing me once said he saw a documentary on Classic Trek when he was young. I always had my suspicions but then in the 80's I saw a show on PBS which was a behind the scenes look at the making of All In The Family. Clearly when I saw it, you could tell it was filmed when the All In The Family was tops in the ratings. The documentary was dated. So it occurred to me that they may have done an episode on Trek when it was on the air. I knew what it was called once but have since forgotten the shows name. Has anyone ever seen one or more than one of this PBS show which analyzed TV series? Somewhere in a vault PBS still has this and it has remained un-aired for perhaps 40 years.

???...It would be cool if its true....but I think if it was real it wouldnt be such a deep secret, as the Trek nation would have been clamoring for it on video or something after all these years. Sorta like the Star Wars Holiday special...it aired once a long time ago, and then was buried under a chicken coop, yet bootlegs and you tube coverage is still alive and well."Crayons taste like purple!" -
It almost sounds familiar, but I have a suspicion my memory is tainted thinking about the zillion times i've read The Making of Star Trek and The World of Star Trek back in the 70's ... Which perhaps gives me the incorrect familiar thought.Comment

I was thinking some more about this today and it hit me...In the early eighties, to promote the upcoming Trek 3 movie, Leonard Nimoy did a Star Trek memories 1 hour special that talked about the series, animation, and movies. It was included in the original series syndication runs until they did new prints in the mid-nineties....I'm betting this is what your friend was thinking of."Crayons taste like purple!"Comment
