Hot of the Presses from the Dr Who restoration team

The Keys of Marinus - in the restore they realised the VHS release was missing several seconds of footage due to splices in the archive 16mm footage. No release dates listed

The Rescue / The Romans (confirming what bbc online store put up weeks ago) - slight improvemnts over vhs release (it was a later one originally) but commentary by Bill Russell he is always fun - scheduled for 2-23-09 UK release

War games - turns out the VHS release was made from a 16mm copy print not the masters so this will be much improved in quality. No release dates listed

Attack of the cybermen - cleaned up the colors and audio so it is actually better now than the broadcast version was.

In the broadcast BBc2 repeat season article they indicated they had Remastered Revenge of the Cybermen and Terror of the Zygons in 2000 but they were never broadcast so I can only hope these are on the list for a release soon both are excellent stories. I think Tom's best work is in the pre Key seasons

I feel the way with a few exceptions.

It seems The Key To Time marks the line between old and new era ... and not just Tom's era... I mean the series as a whole

I think that is when JNT began to have creative input (he was sr production manager and being groomed for his take over in 80)s and Jon was producer from for the remainder of the show. Arguments btwn JNT and Tom were well documented and may be the reason Tom stepped away the next season after JNT took over

JNT's thumbprint on the show may explain why I had difficulty adapting to Davison

The problem with Davison for me was the pacing of many of his stories -- which crawled along at a snails pace.

A lot of people blame JNT for making Doctor Who too glib and fast but I think he actually slowed it down relying on what he thought was good story telling.

              For me, it didn't work.

It seems by the time the later McCoy years, the pacing was kicked up -- but by then it was too late.

Colin suffered the most from this.
I can't think of one story of his that wasn't just plain boring.

It's amazing how rigth that is I never thought of it but the Davison 4 parters seem more drwn out than most Pertwee 6 parters (only Trial of a Timelord moves slower than War games 10 parter though) So no wonder many Mccoy's are 3 parters
