    The Invaders!

I'm just getting to see this show for the first time.
I haven't been this giddy since last January when I watched
    the Time Tunnel!
The thing is, I was born in '72.
    I watched a lot of re-runs, but I hadn't seen either of
    the aforementioned shows until recently.
It seems strange that I would feel such a strong
connection to a program I'd never seen.
Or, is it something about the shows of that era?
Are they really so awesome, or am I going
through some sort of contagious nostalgia syndrome?

I think the reruns of Time Tunnel brainwashed you

but seriously in the era of "reality" tv seeing anything with a plot that doesn't revolve around a love ___ {fill in the blank since triangle hardly covers it in the modern "drama"] and the fact is if you like time tunnel they are very similiar shows. and it is also very much like the Sci fi films of the mid 60's and 50's "Those not like us (Aliens) are to be FEARED"

I can remember the reruns of The Invaders,it was on bbc2 over here, loved the show,i dont think you ever got to see the true identity of the invader

M.Who i also recommend Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea,Land Of the Giants oh and who could forget Lost in Space

Agree that tv now is just reality shows, although the antique and collectable shows are good especially when toys come up for auction.

Old shows were written with completely different attitudes, so they seem very different from the sort of stuff you'd be used to watching now. Also; way back when there wasn't as much material to "borrow" from, so each show was constructed from the ground up. Made the earlier shows feel "new." Given that, there's probably a lot of novelty to these shows for you. And the stories probably feel more satisfying 'cos they don't fall back on any of the "sci-fi-isms" you see nowadays.

I enjoy a lot of these older sci-fi shows because they are driven more by the plot and the actor's ability to make it believable. A lot of today's stuff gets so wrapped up in special effects that the story gets lost.
Same as with today's comics & graphic novels- there seems to be a trend toward doing the series so that it will make a nice full-season DVD collection instead of just doing a quality show for every week.

I loved <The Invaders, and still do.
Need to get me the DVD sets, now they're out.

The show had a good atmosphere, without needing mega special effects and monsters.
