I had very stress but finally, I calm down and thanks for LMK!

I believe you're right TOS Star Trek will comes out on the TV when new Star Trek movie starting on May 1st to hit all theaters.

I don't mind if new TOS syle Star Trek are pretty good movie but I'll watching that and then when new DVD comes out then I'll buy that one.

I can't wait to watching new TOS style Star Trek!

I heard our members are complaining about that 'cuz they don't use original Star Trek accessories and stuff..... I don't care if that new Sar Trek movie look slight different than TOS Star Trek. That's better than nothing good movies, I'll enjoy to watching new Star Trek.

I suspect they might show up on one of the over air networks new digital channels eventually. CBS is going to have a oldies channel.

Season 1 is available through Netflix Instant Watch and some of the digitally-enhanced ones are available on StarTrek.com. I agree that it's prolly gonna be everywhere right before, during, and after the new movie!

While I love the idea of Star Trek playing on TV (it actually is playing on my local station Saturday nights, showing the remastered ones) I assume most Trek fans get thier TOS through thier DVDs/VHS's so they don't have to put up wth editing, commercials and all the other brikabrak they put on the picture to see the show.

That means that less fans tune in to the show in favor of seeing it out of thier own collection.

If you look at the complaints of them getting rid of Trek on the TV Land boards, they answer that it never really got good ratings. Well, heck, when a Star Trek fan has the shows uncut in thier collection, most will not bother with watching them the way they are shown on TV Land.

And yes, TV Land is pretty much a shadow of what it was. Star Trek deserves better.

Didn't get good ratings? What do they expect with the time they had it on?

They began it in prime time. Those are the ratings they are talking about. Again, it makes sense. I am a big Star Trek fan and never made a point to watch Trek on TV Land because I had better looking, uncut versions on DVD.

I always hated the second wave of extended syndication cuts that appeared in the early to mid 80's ...

An example, is them hacking off Mr Coglie's second "I demand it !!!" in Court Martial.

Those cuts made the show virtually unwatchable.

I'm glad by the mid 90's those versions were totally wiped off the face of the earth.

Another reason why the rating weren't so good is because TV Land got ahold of it around the time G4 was still airing TOS.

Yeah, I'm always hated they did edited, short hour each TV series and modified 'em is not original, what a shame!

I'll get uncut and unmodified TOS Star Trek TV series DVD complete set with it's original box after new Star Trek movie on this May.

So, I'll not waisting my money to buy another better one.

I would like to complete TOS with new TOS style Star Trek movie DVDs with it's original artwork box, like POTA one bellow v v v

I have classic POTA complete set with Caesar bust with it's original box, included 2001 POTA movie.

I have the original shows on DVD.

Sad to say, even the non remastered versions are altered in the soundtrack. On DVD, they have stereo surround remixes. Most of the time, that is okay as the remix mimics the original sound mix just fine, except for the channel separations.

But there are times where there are real changes and additions. Sometimes, they correct a badly cut in sound effect like they did in one Charlie X when Charlie enters to where Kirk and Spock are playing T3-D chess. The door sound effect was half cut off and weird sounding. That's corrected on the DVD's

Also, the exterior ship sound is mixed in to all the early episodes (where in some early episodes, they experimented with having no sound for the ship in exterior shots). Balance Of Terror originally had no sound effect for the proximity phasers.

The only way to get the original soundtracks on TOS is to go back to the VHS's

I am lucky to have found, though trading, a number of TOS episodes, taped on Beta (transferred to DVD)in the late 70's and early 80's on my local channel 10. Exactly the channel I watched TOS on in the late 70's. So, I have a number of shows the way I watched them as a kid.

I'm omnivorous in that I enjoy the new remastered Treks but would never want to trade them for the original versions. And I treasure the few episodes I have taped on beta from well worn 16mm prints through broadcast through a film chain.
