Frank Miller to write/direct Buck Rogers

Sorry Guys...this is not a prank! Frank Miller is going to write & direct a Buck Rogers Movie. He says it will be much "darker" in tone.

      Oh, HERE we GO...

Let's see...Wilma will now be a Pleasure Gal, Twiki will curse like a drunken sailor, Buck will morph into either Lance Blastoff or "The Go****mned Batman"...

      Think I'll pass.

I don't know. I think this might be a good ting. Buck Rogers needs a little toughening up. The Gil Gerard era was a cheesefest. In order to bring this franchise to the masses it will need to be darker. Let's see what he comes up with.

Buck Rogers by it's very nature, gets reinvented a great deal, the comic strip, the serial, the '67 book and then the TV series. None of these have much to do with each other save for the character names and premise. So that's not a big deal.

It's Miller that gives me a "no confidence" vote but he could still surprise us.

It'll probably feel a lot like Chaykin's "American Flagg!" but with Buck standing on rooftops in silhouette a lot.

The early word on the Spirit seems to be "poo poo". They're even throwing around the words "Battlefield Earth", you can't take that kind of stuff back.....

Total agreement! Buck Rogers is a fairly loose premise, "guy wakes up in the future 500 years later give or take"... Wilma Deering seems to remain consistent, other wise it's all over the place... So storywise it's fair game, the tone and content of said story will reside with Mr. Miller... this is where it gets dicey... Buck Rogers is Iconic and uniquely American, I hate to see it get hacked into bits...

Next thing ya know they'll make a Lone Ranger Movie and have a non-native American Play Tonto

When will people learn? How hard is it to remember that Miller was the one who did Robocop 3? That alone should have people keeping him away from movies.
