I finally had a chance to watch Doctor Who The Mutants last night.
Not bad, but like most Pertwee's ... The 6 stories should have been only four.

Anyway, when it first started, the monk running ......
I could not help but think of Michael Palin doing a Monty Python intro

It was the first Who novel I ever read, a few weeks later it came up on TV. It's one of my favorite Pertwee shows but you're right, it could have been shorter.

almost every pertwee 6 parter really would work better as a 4 parter hence why the movie formats are as short as a 4 part one. The long recap is really noticable when you watch it straight through. But it kept BBC management happy and Jon's are on average some of the best, and they further put the spotlight on the Mccoy years even the 3 parters feel like their stretching
