Don't think I really made that big of a deal about it. I just said I won't bother going to see it because of Keanu plus I really don't feel it needed to be remade anyway.
I'm betting they didn't give Patricia Neal a cameo in it either?

From the reviews I've read, critics are not crazy about the movie.
Most reviews say the movie is "full of itself". Pompous...
Apparently, Keanu also gets om peoples nerves with his "your planet" comment....

        Exactly!
        That's it.

Interview with a vampire, Mission Impossible. Not bad, but would have been better with someone else in the lead...

I'm still hoping the final scene in Day The Earth Stood Still will show the old Gort, looming behind new Gort and laser blasting his successor into oblivion, with the logo "there can be only one" at the bottom of the screen.

I am not a big reeves fan but I hoped this would be ok despite that.

AFA Tom Cruise, I seem to really like about half his movies, Mission Impossible and War of the Worlds sucked IMO, but I loved the Last Samurai - but that was mostly because of the actual samurai characters, and also cause Cruise got his *** handed to him several times.

I just came back from watching The Day the Earth Stood Still (watched it on IMAX).

Very handsome-looking film, and Keanu Reeves' lack of acting ability actually worked for him in the role of Klatau.

I also liked Gort being a BIG sucker, he was very intimidating.

One major thing that I didn't like...the kid...he was horrible. What the heck was that annoying little brat doing in this movie?

I did like the intrigue and suspense in the first half of the movie...then it started to go downhill in the last half, it lost its focus...and that bratty kid, argh.

Jennifer Connely is still very pretty...but what happened to her body??? She's all skin and bones now.

First half of the movie was an A...but the last half...I only gave it a C+...so total score for the movie...B-.

                  ***Spoilers***

I loved the way he arrived...in a biological suit, then morph into a human, to acclimate to our atmosphere, I thought that was brilliant.

The last half, to me at least...was a real bummer...he gets a change of heart just because Jennifer Connely and the little brat hug and cry together? I thought his purpose was to halt humanity's slow environmental destruction of the Earth...but noooooooooo...it just took two humans making a scene at a cemetary. I thought all those dead threats from the little brat were good enough to fry humanity into a crisp, lol.

                  Also...Gort going all insect storm...that didn't sit well with me...and it only destroyed a semi-truck and a football stadium...please...lol.

Like I said, first half, A...second half, C+ (at best)...for a grand total of B-.

I meant the showy way he came to earth in the original Klattu appeared as a human in a very subdued manner, that seemed better to make his final judgement, and given the message of the movie is that we can change and become better as a race the movie would be sucky if we died before we had a chance to do that, and the old chinese guy, (boy was nig trouble in little china that long ago, sheesh I'm getting old), if youve seen the movie you know how I mean no spoilers here, also affected his choice in that matter, it was for me anyway a walk a mile in a mans shoes moment for the second half.

think we will always have diffrent views of what was best in that movie, was hoping for a bit more world dustruction though, kind of liked the Acronym of gort

I totally agree with you here...I just needed more Gort azz kicking. One semi-truck, a couple of fying drones, and a football stadium was not enough for me. Gort should've blasted the entire island of Greenland at least.

Did like the way he took the tanks out with the UCAV's though, To be honest when I saw the scientist using Bista I figured we were totally Stuffed
