    E-Space Trilogy comes to DVD

I just read Doctor Who's E-Space Trilogy is coming to R-2 DVD soon.
That means it should hit America in R-1 a few months later.

    I personally didn't love it.

I didn't like Full Circle one single bit.
To me, it was just crazy boring.

I did like State Of Decay even though the ending was clearly not a surprise ...

Warriors Gate was the worst of the lot.
I've seen that story a few times and I still can't follow it.

Tom Baker seemed to not even care anymore and was just going through the motions...
You can tell when an actor just don't care.
It was like he was not even Tom Baker as Doctor Who anymore.
The RED SUIT seemed to help alienate him from his fans as well.

I wouldn't blame this all on JNT.
Baker was already getting "tired" long before JNT took over.
    JNT didn't help any though.

I don't consider this season an end of an era.
To be honest, I consider this season to be the beginning of an era -- The Davison era.

In it's own way, this entire season was sad to watch.
We lost Romana and K-9 --- and they were both replaced with new young companions ...
It made Baker look that much older ......
Finally when Baker left, you almost felt relieved ... Almost like watching a person dying a slow death finally succumbing.

What did you think of the E-Space Trilogy ?

I dunno Mike. I think the red jacket and red/purple scarf was imposed by JNT to reel in Baker a bit from being so wild. I'm not crazy about it but the consolidation of colors seemed to make Baker more Monk-like, ( and so did the scripts). When they make an action figure of him in that color scheme I will be right at the head of the line to buy one.

Full Circle seemed only to introduce Adric. I saw State of Decay once and I scratch my head and wonder why people think this is a good story. Maybe if it had been made earlier in Tom Bakers tenure it would've had more substance to it. Warriors Gate had a relevant angle to it. It was basically about slavery but the characters in it are just so unsavory I find it hard to watch. I did get the feeling it was more a season of endings than beginnings. Also JNT kept adding too much recap from the previous episodes in the openers to new episodes. I found that damn annoying.

according to Terrance Dicks, the long recaps started back in the Pertwee years meant the script was too short or that they needed to stretch out the story to fit into the time slot

The Pertwee years were clearly the worst of the lot for extended recaps.
Sometimes they'd go back almost 4 minutes into the last episode.
Planet of the Spiders is the all time champion.

I always thought the JNT era was much better (for not recapping too much)
As a matter of fact, last night I just watched Snakedance and the recaps went back only about 12 seconds.

I'm with Mike the e-space is not in my top favorite story arcs and to be honest I am kind of annoyed these 3 one are getting the dvd rematering before MUCH better episodes from the Tom Baker Era (Deadly Assasin, terror of the Zygons, or Revnge of the Cybermen and in my opinion Android Invastion) let alone ones from Davison (which would be about as technically difficult/easy as the espace since the tape masters are even newer like mawdryn undead, Enlightenment, and planet of fire ) or the Pertwee's that exist as color prints already (Curse of Peladon, Day of the Daleks, Monster of Peladon, Planet of the Daleks, Planet of the spiders)

But lets be honest the restoration team drives the bus and they must really like this group since it gives them a chance to do a box set

hey if it wasn't for long reccaps we might not have any color footage from Mind of evil
