Lost and almost Found Doctor Who Episodes

There has been some reports of a possible lead on some old lost Doctor Who Episodes (Marco Polo) from the Hartnell era.
The BBC "junked" a load of episodes to make some storage space.
(They should of stored them in the Tardis)

So any lead is good. Not sure if much will come of it but it's worth a try....I shall be crossing my fingers.

Well, I think some epsiodes (perhaps all) have been saved on audio tape from different sources, so even finding a dubbed movie would be ok ... because i'm sure they would be able to combine the two.

I just don't have a lot of faith this is going anywhere.

It would be like me saying to you --- "I loned you my hammer back in 1965 ... Can I have it back now"

I dunno; they've recovered a lot of 'em so far. And they've done a lot of weird tricks to restore them, so it's always possible they'll put together some more.

I would be a great find. The Marco Polo 7 episodes are the last missing for the first season of Dr Who.
Hard to say were the missing 108 episode are. They have found two since the Doctor Who The Missing Years Documentry was made. Episode 1, (The Lion) of The Crusades (released US VHS and DVD) and Episode 2, (Day of Armageddom) of The Daleks Masterplan (released US DVD only). The later was return by a former BBC employee. I wonder how many more missing episode are in the attics of former BBC employees of the 70s.

Before the DVD crazy I manage to get all the Dr Who's that were released on VHS including the original Five Doctors that was later redone, (both on Factory VHS). The Brain of Morbius, both the oringal VHS release were they cut the episodes together, deleted scenes, and the Collectors edtion that retained the episode format.
Lastly, The Sixth doctors, (Colin Baker) story, the Timelash which aired in the 22 season. What make this tape special, is the fact that CBS Fox had the US rights from the BBC to sell certain Dr Who Storyies VHS in the US, (Warner Brothers had the rights to sell the rest). The BBC cancel the selling right to CBS Fox for this story and all unsold Tapes had to be pulled. So the only factory tape out there are those sold to the public before the pull orders reached the store. I bought mine the very day the pull order reached the Musicland store in Roseburg, OR. The store manager had just read the pull order, when I brought the tape to the cash register, but sold it to me anyway because I was a good customer in the past on special orders.

Drain that's very cool you have all the not on dvd vhs releases I am missing 10 episodes mostly the later partial episdoe releases Icewarriors, reign of terror etc)

hartnell's Rescue and romans is scheduled as a uk box set early next year so expect it to come to the states in late 09

IF they found any of the still missing episodes that is great news but at this pooint any episdoes that appear are a blessing

these guys do reconstructions of the missing stories similiar to the 10th planet ep 4 on the vhs release. using the fan recorded audios (the same sources of most of the bbc's audio for the lost ones) and stills, clips etc.

The BBC site supports CTC's I think some fan sites count this as season 2. Reign is missing ep 4 and 5 Marco is the only story where no footage is known to exist in season 1. Wouldn't it be grand if the 9 episodes were indeed these missing 9 from season 1

seasons 3-5 are the biggest chunk of lost episodes, along with usable color (colour in the queen's eng) prints of several Pertwee's

                        Don,
You are right, I stand corrected, Reign of Terror was the last Story of Season 1 and it's missing a couple of episodes 4 and 5. However I do think, because of what I have seen on the bonus footage on the DVDs, that some missing episodes do exist, however they cann't be fully released in their present format. I am referring to in the DVD's bonus features, the off the air footage of missing episodes. By looks of this footage. A fan set up his/her movie camera in front of their telly, (no VCR back then), and filmed the episode off the screen while it was being televised on the BBC. Just the same as fans who tape recorded it.

It doesn't sound promising but I do hope these episodes are recovered. The
Marco Polo story has always been held in high regard and it would be great
                            to see it.
