Really? I may have LOOKED better (and I've been told it's closer to the original story) but I think they're both very good. The original was the prototype for this sort of film, and I think it's tough for us to really appreciate it, since by the time we'd have seen the actual film we'd probably already seem a zillion clones. If I'm not mistaken, it was the first time we'd seen the "NO! We must try to COMMUNICATE with it!!!" character.
One thing I liked about the remake was that it could have been a sequel to the original.
