The big question is will they maintain continuity with the same style of make-ups or are they going to leave the tracks again and give them a different look? -
Off on a small tangent here but I would LOVE to see a movie based on Jack Kirby's Kamandi (which was inspired by POTA). That would be cool.

This just occured to me. If Fox wants to bring back POTA in some form how
about "Santo and Blue Demon on The Planet of the Apes"? That could be a lot
of fun but it would also mean finding replacements for the late Santo and Blue
Demon.
I'm having fun here but at least it's more original than remaking "Conquest".Leave a comment:

This could turn out ok but can't anyone in Hollywood come up with new ideas?
How long before they start remaking remakes?Leave a comment:

I just hope they don't ruin it by "making it better".
The Apes are my favorite franchise and I would love to see them back on top but with everything that came before still valid.
My biggest beef is how did all the normal-sized chimps, gorillas, etc all of a sudden become 6 feet tall and acquire the power of speech within 20 years or so?

Having Ceasar as a genetically altered Ape makes imminent sense, and also takes care of trying to explain how three monkeys from a roughly 1800's equivelant technological background, could resurface, and launch a space vessel they had never seen before...all in a matter of hours...days at most...from when they last saw Brent, and the Earth went bye bye. I really like the Escape movie, but it was a huge stretch story wise....not that gun toting monkeys on horseback arent a stretch...but you get the idea.
Thank you. I remember getting into a discussion of this ages ago with a 'Talkative" member here about these particular points. Nice to see someone else thinks along the same (Logical) linesLeave a comment:

Just read over at Dark Horizons that Fox is seriously mulling over a new Apes film. According to DH, the film will be based on "Conquest of the Planet of the Apes", and is not touted as a reboot or a sequel to Burtons crapporama.
New "Apes" Remaking "Conquest"? (November 3rd 2008)
I've often though that a mini series based on the original films might be a neat way to revive the franchise. Taking what was in the five films, and tightening up the framework of the stories so they all fit into a tighter continuity. The Apes running the show are no surprise this time, so you would have to start with Conquest and Battle. This way, the original film and Beneath become the end of the story, as it was meant to be.
Maybe having Taylor's ship (and Brent's) launched at the same time as Conquest begins....that way it makes sense that Taylor et al dont realize how Apes rose to supremacy in their abscence.
Also ties Brent story about following Taylors path when his ship "went missing"...It was supposed to go missing in the original film. Taylor and crew always knew they would be travelling far into the future, and far into space.
