Tennant steps down as The Doctor.

David Tennant announced he was quitting the show after the specials, so we'll have a new Doctor for season 5. You can read about it here;

Aside from the actors mentioned in the article, Sean Pertwee and Robert Carlyle have also been linkd to the role.

Who would you like to see take over? Personally, I'd love to see Bill Nighy in the role.

I'd love to see the next Doctor be someone a bit older and perhaps more like the Classic Doctors.
Now that the new series is a hit, they can afford to let the Doctor be the Doctor -- and not some wild kid.

My vote goes to Dave Dickinson formerly of Bargain Hunt.

I like him because he reminds me of my fav Doctor, Jon Pertwee

I totally agree. I love Tennant's energy and youthfulness, but going back to the older, more "doctor-like" figure, would be great....

But Dickinson not being an actor would rule him out, right?

Btw: in that shot, he seems to be thinking: "Shouldn't have sold my dentures in that last edition of Bargain Hunt...."

I could never get into Doctor Who before (too "British-TV" for my tastes) but I loved this latest version. Got hooked on it. I thought Tennant was great.
Guess I won't be watching it any more now.

I liked Tennant for a while, but I started to get sick of him --- especially this past season and some of season-3

I'm actually glad he's leaving.

I'm not surprised, the rumours have been out there for a while. He's put in a good run, he was a great Doctor but he's right, there is a certain energy when a new guy takes over.

I vote for Nick Frost, the first "regular guy" Doctor.

As Cool as Sean Pertwee would be I don't see him doing it unless they offer him a boatload of cash. He knows first hand how difficult it is to step from the timelord's shadow.

I don't think the producers are dumb enough to do that.

It would literally alienate their entire fan base ... new fans and old fans -- both male and female.

The only time I can see them attempting it is if the series was at the end of it's rope --- nobody watched, and it's at the verge of cancellation.
Then they might try it as a last grasping straws effort.

I know this has been rumored for some time so it's not a complete surprise.

I'd really like to see an older Doctor. They don't need to repeat Hartnell but
hopefully an older Doctor would eliminate all that female companions falling in
love with the Doctor crap!

I don't know who might be a good choice for an older Doctor.

If they stay younger Ben Miller from "Primeval" and the actor that plays
Gisbourne on "Robin Hood" could be interesting Doctors. I can not think of his name and it will come to me two minutes after I leave the computer.

If your going to go for an older Doctor my choice would be: Anthony Head (been mentioned before but now he's on Merlin unlikely). Or How about Timothy Dalton?
