When TOS Star Trek TV series comes out on the cable/statlite TV?

I haven't see TOS Star Trek on the cable/statlite TV for long time but I found that hiden on channel 55........ There's few times to showing up.....

What channel, day(s) or night(s) and time will showing up again? LMK, thanx.

I have some of VHS tapes to recording them when it's showing up. I can't afford to buy complete classic Star Trek TOS (The Original Series) DVD collection set because that's expensive!

TV Land shows the traditional versions (heavily edited, of course).

What's the story on the remastered classic trek episodes? Have they issued them on DVD yet? Do they look great and fit in with the overall production quality of the episodes or do they look out of place?

                They look like crap.

Imagine watching an old episode of Star Trek and suddenly seeing video game quality graphics of the Enterprise.
If it wasn't so tragic, it would be funny.

I'd have to agree ~ I've got some $$ to spend on the new DVD set, and as much as I laugh at the terrible effects in 'Doomsday Machine', the revised effects just diminish the crispness of the action, the pacing, etc. The original effects were alright, but it's part of the appeal of the show.

Grafting on new effects seems good in theory, but in retrospect seems more a letdown for us long-term fans than just keeping the original effects. At least in the ST-TMP Directors Cut, they kept most of the original effects, just updating a few FX scenes.

BUT they did it specifically with that timeframe (late '70s) in mind; i.e., if they weren't RUSHED to complete the movie, what would the effects have been like, along with generally cleaning up the prints.

And to most of you who haven't seen the revised TMP DVD, I'd hunt it down. As most reviewers will tell you, it's a better retelling/editing of the movie. The dramatic pace is much improved..

(and yes, it 'doesn't suck as much'..).

Another thing I hate about the new effects Classic Trek's is that damn remade title song.

That woman with her AHHHHH, AHHHHH ....... sounds like **** ...

She's too loud and overpowering over the score.

Everytime I hear her sing, I laugh --- but this is Star Trek Classic --- i'm not suppose to be laughing.

The whole project is just one big tragedy.

They screwed with something that wasn't even close to broken.

2 seasons are out on DVD with the third due out in December.

My opinion of them is that they started off a bit shaky and got better as they went along and I enjoyed the project overall. And as long as Paramount doesn't pull a Lucas (i.e. declare the original versions dead) I enjoy the alternate versions of the episodes. As far as fitting in with the live action, I don't even worry about that. I am so familiar with the shows that anything different sticks out for me. I can tell you that in a certain way, these remastered shows help me look at the show as a kid again. As a kid, you took the effects you were given and vivified them into something more than they were. It was a time before you saw the matte lines and blue screen fringe on a model and just saw a beautiful, vividly shown starship.

Now, these remastered effects have varying degrees of realism but they look beautiful. You are seeing the Enterprise in detail YOU THOUGHT you saw as a kid. On a meta level, most special effects look phony now to me anyway so I look at it on a more detail and artistic level.

I guess what I am trying to say I always loved looking at the Enterprise and the way the Enterprise is shown on the best of these remastered versions is a real treat.

I heard about that in few years ago they edited and added something new on the DVD's hit all stores but I haven't buy them yet 'cause I knows that's sucks like George Lucas did editied on the original Star Wars part 4, 5 and 6. I bought them, watched all of them and I'm not interesting that modified background with stupid singer the Alien brown Taz like, can't remember what's name of that on part 6 "Return of the Jedi". I have to buy all original with widescreen someday, NO modified but restored picture and sounds is awesome that hit all Theaters in 1997. I'm enjoyed to watched all of them!
