    Happy 30th Galactica

I saw this tonight and realized I'm old.
    http://www.aintitcool.com/node/38369

I remember thinking that this was a cool show when I first saw it and I also remember the signing of the treaty between Israel and Egypt coverage happening and then ABC playing the rest of the opening late into the night rather than in progress. The model I got of the Galactica I still have, it is one of my favorite space ship designs.
    It's all good!

I still remember being about 12 and going outside after an episode had ended (the cowboyish episode with Starbuk and a Cylon as gunfighters!) and lying down under the small pine tree in our front yard. I stared up at the stars for the longest time and wondered...

          Ah, youth.

This show has it all over that "new" version. Happy Birthday Battlestar G!

It had all the earmarks of "Let's-Get-These-Out-In-Time-for-Christmas"..!

At least a couple of vehicles for the figures would have been nice, instead of the smaller versions, but I can surmise it was a further attempt to not only save costs, but to further the 'non-Star Wars rip-off' agenda by producing a consciously diversified toy line.

Or, yes, perhaps simply to make it cheap..

I didn't like the first half of the show, since it didn't seem to have much soul or identity other than being a SW rip-off. When the show started to grow it's 'legs', adding Sheba and additional secondary characters is when I actually saw it going somewhere, and gaining a distinct identity.

That's when the show became cool... THAT'S the show I missed.
                Peace.. Through Superior Firepower.

I saw this in my local cinema, 30 years ago, as a feature film.
I loved it, and still do.
BG may have had its weaknesses, but I'm fond of it.

For those of you who've been 'Hatched', he's a super-great-nice-wonderful speaker, and loves signing everything. Got to see him at the 25th Yarhen one in LA. I must have stood in line about 5 different times. I have one of his glossies at my desk now. I was a CPT in the Army Reserve at that point, so he signed it 'From one Captain to another'.

                    Now that was cool..!

That Galactica con itself was so much better than a Trekker con, more grass roots in nature, not like a 'franchise event'.

I see this statement made a lot and really don't see much, if any, truth to it. Other than sharing a science fiction theme how many similarities are there to make it come across as a Star Wars rip-off?

I missed the premire. I was very young and my cousin got married that day. We were told there was a tv we could watch at the wedding hall where the party was held but that turned out not to be. We got home and found the President was giving a speech and we got to see the remaining 30 minutes when he was done.

Yeah, that's sucks . 'cause it is VERY different than classic BSG and the camera man filming around, back and forth......

                            Why not be STILL????

BTW, Happy Birthday classic Battlestar Galatica!!! That one is my 3rd top favorite TV series and "Galactica 1980" movie!
