What did you think of Doctor Who THE INVIVIBLE ENEMY ?

I finally got a chance to see Doctor Who's The Invisible Enemy last night.
Actually, i've been waiting for the DVD release for sometime now.
While waiting, I read some reviews about it.
It seems the general consensus of reviews give The Invisible Enemy a horrible rating.
They go on about too much SFX, a lousy story, a not realized plot and an out of character ending ending (for the Doctor).

I have to disagree on all counts ......

I think the SFX needed to be there because of the premise of the story itelf.

The story seemed ok... reminded me of Fantastic Voyage (but then all movies/TV shows borrow from each other.

I don't think the Doctor was out of character.
The Doctor has killed nasties before and after The Invisible Enemy.

    I'd give Invisible Enemy a 6 out of 10.
Nothing special, but totally watchable with a plot that's at least interesting.

    What do you think ?

    BTW,
Sorry about the typo in the title.

    Hmmmm....

It's one of my faves! Yeah, they got WAY ambitious with the effects but I can't fault them for trying. The best part: WEIRD MONSTER!

    After that, nothing else matters.

Oh yeah; except that it ALSO introduced K-9.

Never having seen this story before, I was shocked to learn K-9 was not built by the Doctor.

I always thought the Doctor built him.

So all other K-9's were built by the Doc ?
I seem to remember a story where the Doc had a room full of them MIB

Don't remember a roomful, but yeah; he built a bunch more. Mk2 he built, and you see him in a crate after Leela leaves and the Mk1 stays with her. Mk3 was sent to Sarah Jane at the beginning of her first series. And I think there was at least one more.... but I can't recall where I saw it.

I just read an interesting fact about Invisible Enemy on Wiki .......

The 51st century is a significant time in the Whoniverse. Aside from the Great Breakout mentioned in this story and being the home era of K-9, the century will also bring a new ice age, a near world war, time travel research and the coming of the Time Agents (all mentioned in The Talons of Weng-Chiang). The ship where the events of "The Girl in the Fireplace" take place is from this century as is former Time Agent, Jack Harkness, a companion of the Ninth and Tenth Doctors.
