Had a great movie tonight on Svengoolie with the first appearance of Kolchak followed by the first appearance of Godzilla in a Sven Double Feature. It just sort of hit me that there are a couple of more famous properties that this made for television movie might have inspired. The November 1972 episode of Detective Comics #429 Manbat Over Vegas had an extremely similar opening scene of a vampire stalking a Vegas showgirl on the strip. I think there was some homage going on but who knows.
Secondly, this seemed to have a few echoes to me with Interview With the Vampire. Journalist meets Vampire and it ends with a large pile of cassette tapes. Just had a similar feel. Might just be me.
