MONARCH: LEGACY OF MONSTERS (Apple TV+)

Apple TV+’s upcoming sci-fi drama series based on Legendary’s Monsterverse titled Monarch: Legacy of Monsters is Legendary Television’s new (10 episode) live-action series featuring Godzilla and the Titans. Co-developed by Chris Black (Severance) and Matt Fraction (Hawkeye), Monarch: Legacy of Monsters stars Kurt Russell, Wyatt Russell, Anna Sawai, Kiersey Clemons, Ren Watabe, Mari Yamamoto, Anders Holm, Joe Tippett and Elisa Lasowski.

Army officer Lee Shaw (younger).jpgArmy officer Lee Shaw (older).jpg
Following the thunderous battle between Godzilla and the Titans that leveled San Francisco and the shocking revelation that monsters are real, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters tracks two siblings following in their father’s footsteps to uncover their family’s connection to the secretive organization known as Monarch. Clues lead them into the world of monsters and ultimately down the rabbit hole to Army officer Lee Shaw (played by Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell), taking place in the 1950s and half a century later where Monarch is threatened by what Shaw knows. The dramatic saga – spanning three generations – reveals buried secrets and the ways that epic, earth-shattering events can reverberate through our lives.

I am going to wait till they get ready to air the episode 8 and then subscribe for one month. I do not see much on this site worth watching another pay channel that I cannot watch in one month time.

Honestly AppleTV is worth it for many good series they have and it's only $6.99 a month.

With both Kurt and Wyatt Russell in this show I'm sold, hopefully it's good. I will say generally speaking, Apple spends a lot of money on their shows, both with acting talent, but also writers and their shows just are well curated.

I'm watching Foundation right now, into season 2, which is a SciFi based on the Isaac Asimov book series.

Silo was pretty good and For All Mankind. The Morning Show, Ted Lasso and Servant are all good.

I've watched Severance twice, and I'm waiting for season 2. Adam Scott from Parks and Rec plays in it, and it's a crazy show about having your conscience split in two, so you have a work version and non work version of yourself and neither knows anything about the other one. Very unique show!

Your probably right and I should add this to my digital TV list.

Unlike paying Dish/Direct for my TV channels ( I cancel them till CW comes back with Superman), I started to pay for the digital channels and to be truthful I do not know if I am saving money or spending the same.

I'm planning on watching it today. I hope it's good. I haven't seen any trailers or know anything about it. I just know it's got Godzilla!

Well, I was able to watch the first 2 episodes.

                    monarch-legacy-of-monsters tag.jpg

1st: it does work around two groups of humans. One set in the 50's at the beginning of Monarch as there searching for more Titans across the world. Second set after the events of Godzilla. They get mixed up with Monarch thanks to their family's past.

2cd: In the 1st episode the flash back did tie into Godzilla. After that there are two new Titans/Mutos that show up.

3rd I was not expecting lots of footage of monsters, that would kill the budget. The human characters stories are working. 50's group is really interesting because it's all new to them. After-Godzilla crew finally got together towards the end so it should get interesting in finding more secrets.

The sections set during the 1950s are pretty intriguing, but the 2015 sections are so far mostly tedious.
The highlights are the glimpses of the Titans, both old and new.
